budgie 0 Posted May 14, 2007 Report Share Posted May 14, 2007 hi yal need help to aquire an engine manual for me vr its a 97 ® golf 2.8.i been told my plugs are oilin up and that at some point in the cars life it has over heated and fried the piston rings which would explain the smoke when ragged. So iv been askin around and suffered many heart attacks from the quotes. my mate said do it yourself!...arghhhhh im no mechanic i got limited tools (hammer and adjustable spanner) he said a good chance to get to know ya engine,so i thought scratchin me head lets do it. budgie 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 18, 2007 ta for the advice dude ive been thinkin bout nothing else but this, its doin me nut in!! i prob wont tackle this myself as i been doin some ringin round and from what im beein told this is major work and could be as much as £1100 and that includes new clutch,chains and head rebuild. im waitin on a call from a firm who specialize in rebuilds i gonna see what they say on monday.if ya want i,ll let you know how i got on...peace.
