Andy Mac 1
At the top left hand corner (drivers side) of the engine block there is a cylinder shaped connection between what looks like the engine and the air box. Firsly what is this? and secondly, should this be an air tight connection, i.e. should the 2 parts be seperate?
Seademon 0
If it is what Im thinking of - its the air intake so no, it shouldnt be in 2 seperate bits. It goes from the Mass Air Flow sensor (plastic tube with a plug on) to the throttle body
dstyrrell 0
i think that you are talking about the crankcase ventilation valve?? if it has a pipe coming from the rocker cover into a disc shaped thing, (this will be where its split, or come apart), we on the same wave length., these are reknowned for being shit quality and always split, you may have notice an oil smell in your car because of this. You can try and carefully glue it back together with some industrial strength glue or you can get a new one, don't order one from VW as they will charge around £70 you can get the same part from Ford for about £20 ask for a crankcase ventilation valve from a V6 Galaxy, they had VR6 engines in them you see. That should be all you need to know mate, you might aswell try and glue it first.Dave
