rodney 17
Ladies and gents,I know there have been conversations on here before but I don't seem to be able to resolve this...Going into my distant past I recall the oil temp sitting happily at 90 deg all day once warmed through and on the old motorway. It now varies a little dependant upon my speed upto about 110 deg but never really drops much below 98. Why ????? I feel this is a little high really!! Am I worrying about nothing??? The car is running as it should be no lumpy idle etc to indicate too hot or evapourating fuel etc..For my own piece of mind I did a flush with the last oil and filter changes and this has not altered these settings. My water temp does not move from dead centre and the fans etc are working as they should be!What do you guys think? :^) Cheers
spindat45 0
That doesn't sound too bad to me RCF. Mine is much the same. If it is only hitting 110 when you've been really hammering it on the motorway then I wouldn't worry as long as it comes back down when you back off. Mine has been above that but I was on a private-ish road doing well over a ton on the tail of a CLK When I'm doing a constant 70-80 mph my temp is about 102. Not sure why you were getting different readings in the past. *-) Maybe you've opened up the internals a bit These VR lumps do like to run hotter than most cars and comsume a bit of oil so just keep an eye on it. The other alternative if it continues to give you cause for concern, is to fit an oil cooler. Kevin
