Kaz 0 Posted September 11, 2006 Report Share Posted September 11, 2006 I bought my VR with a siezed lump, and a new engine from an auto Sharan. Now I know the engine is sound as we drove it in the Sharan, but with it having been an auto, we need to use the existing Golf manual gearbox.The car has just hit 110k, according to it's previous owner, the gearbox was fine - but never having driven it I'm a little dubious. Are there any known problems with them? Would it be worth sourcing a low mileage replacement box? I know the 16v's have probs with their syncro mesh's on lower gears, anything like that with the VR's?Cheers for any help. Link to post Share on other sites
