  1. Just a thought but have you tried checking and adjusting the mechanism.. might have popped out of alignment. Failing that anything v5 or V6 from the VW stables will fit.. apart from syncope n 4motion.. unless that's what you've got..
  2. No always steady for the first one.. never like to spank it after I've done any work.. but like I said it was so annoying as it just kept slipping but then after a decent steady drive it was spot on.. you'll need to do it with some traffic too.. get a bit of stop start in.. it'll be fine.. I'd never had the issue with any other cars I'd changed a clutch on they were all fine from the off.. just the vr.. ??
  3. Not a charged vr but I had to do a gearbox change after mine blew a hole in the casing.. and it needed about 500 miles to fully settle.. it would slip with power.. it was so frustrating.. I was racking my brain and about to pull the box out again but didn't have time before I had to take the car on a decent run.. it was fine after that tho.. Peddle was also a lot lighter than with the old one.. think it was a Sachs clutch..
  4. No worries dude.. sorry I can't be more help.. it was last august I did mine before the retrorides gathering.. I lent it to my cousin while we worked on his MX.. he had it 2 weeks and blew a hole in the box... [emoji16] as far as I remember tho it's all straight forward.. nothing needed chopping.. Thinking about the gear mech I'm sure I just unbolted the tower off the box and just swapped it over .. clutch was a vr.. can't remember if I swapped clutch fork.. the slave cylinder bolts on fine.. apart from the flanges that was it... A ball ache doing it on axle stands too... [emoji23]
  5. Yea all the cables matched up.. I broke the big black clip that holds it all together but they're cheap enough to buy again... All the holes match up.. I had to get some flanges from a golf I think as the shafts were 100mm and the flanges an the Bora box were 110mm.. apart from that it was a straight swap... I'm not overly keen on the new box.. I lost about 10 -15 mph top end but it does feel quicker.. you change gears more often too.. if it's a daily I'd not bother but for a track or weekend toy you'll be fine..
  6. Hi mate, I've done the 2.3 box change on my Passat vr... It's running a AAA engine.. I can't remember the actual box code but it went on fine.. I know some say you have to drill the starter holes but I didn't have to... Hope you get it sorted soon..

The car now has a v5 box from a Bora. A new clutch and inner c.v joint and she's finally behaving.. Thanks for the welcome.. Lee
