markandnikki reacted to ACSmith in Tornado Red Mk2 Golf Vr6
I then decided against the Mk4 recaro’s, they were really comfy but a bit too big and wasn’t the way I wanted to go so I opted for some Recaro Pole Positions, I made up some subframes to mount them as low as possible
I then tucked the car up for winter but unfortunately my girlfriends car broke down so we had to use mine over Christmas in the horrible grit and snow…
I then spent a whole day giving it a proper clean to ensure the salt was off
SO that brings us into 2015. Progress was slow as I’m studying a Masters in Acoustics at Salford University, whist doing 40+ Hour working weeks and somewhere in the middle me and my girlfriend finally brought out own place. What sold it though was the double garage J
Car all tucked up in its new home, first thing that got moved in haha!
I then set about getting it set-up as a workshop with a compressor, welder, 3m Work bench etc
After a few months of sorting the hous, doing uni work and working away a fair bit I finnaly had some time to get stuck back into the car. As I only live 10 minute bike ride from work I could take the car off the road and redo everything as I feel I rushed it first time just to get it on the road. I also had an idea that the headgasket was on its way out, powersteering pump was leaking and the exhaust was blowing. After a good once over my thoughts were confirmed, the headgasket had gone but luckily I managed to catch it ssoon before any damage was done.
As the engine was going to be stripped I decided that I would take the engine out, replace all seals, paint the block, re-route all the wiring through chassis legs, remove heater matrix (Replace with electric heater), smooth engine bay and weld up all unused holes.
With the bar partially stripped I did something I have always loved and removed the rain tray with some help from a good mate of mine
So that brings us up to the current day. I haven’t worked on the car for a while due to currently being away with work and having university assignments to do but all of that will be over in a few weeks and I can get stuck back into it again, I really cant wait to get it done and back on the road!!!!
Future plans are:
· Smoothed bay (Maintaining original lines)
· Re-route harness
· Re-Spray bay
· Inline coolant filler
· Remove heater matrix
· Re-Build Engine with all new seals and PS Delete
· Motorsport Pedal Box with remote reservoirs
· Motorsport Shifter
· Powder coated; Subframe, rear beam, wishbones, hub, engine cross member etc
· Polly Bush throughout
· Eibach ARB’s
· 6 branch Manifold
· Vortex 2.5” Exhaust with De-Cat
· Re-Trimmed seats and door cards
· VDO Gauges
Thanks for reading and hopefully I can keep this up-to-date as I go along J

markandnikki got a reaction from pappers in hello from saffron walden
I am now back on the road, thanks to bennyk for some of the bits I needed and a trip to Stevens vw dismantlers in chelmsford for the rest. I have managed to do a few miles and am loving the car, I will post some photos when I work out how to but it is a very unexciting standard vr6 and I intend to keep it that way. I have removed the wife's driving privileges until further notice.

Hi all, we have just bought ourselves a 1994 vr6 which we will be picking up this weekend, hopefully photos will then follow. Had originally been looking for a v6 4motion but couldn't resist this one when we saw it.

has anyone used Stevens vw dismantlers near chelmsford. I am going to go there this week to try and get the replacement bits I need but can't see from their website if thats possible or if you can only order online. I prefer going in person and seeing what i am buying. Also the front bumper now has a big dent in the top black more rigid part, is it possible to heat this and try to bend it back or am i wasting my time?
