  1. The one with the price tag of 13.90 is an angled connector. What do we think?
  2. Is everyone else's connector the straight one as pictured above? There seems to be an awful lot of the angled connector on eBay for a lot cheaper than the straight one. Would I be able to make the slightly angled one fit?
  3. 40-50 notes is a lot of money for something that seems so small! I went to the parts desk today and they wanted 90€ for the whole coolant pipe with connector. If anyone knows anyone breaking a vr then please let me know. Thanks guys
  4. Does anyone have this connector? It comes from the pipe that is connected to the top of the radiator. I foolishly managed to snap the 'nipple' off of mine! Thanks in advance.
  5. That is unfortunate that it didn't start! Doing that with the key in the start position should have tried to at least crank the engine. Even without the key in the ignition at all it should constantly turn the starter motor over. Interesting that it hasn't done that at all. The starter motors that you have tried, were they working prior to fitting them? I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it eventually!
  6. Was the new ignition switch definitely a goodun? My VR6 would not crank over when you turnt the key to start, however, when you turn the key just to on all the ignition lights would turn on, pointing to a fault with the ignition switch. To over come this I unplugged the plug that goes straight into the back of the ignition switch, stripped a small part of the thick red wire and also the thinner red wire with a black line on it, attached two wires so that they are accessible, put the plug back into the ignition switch, turn the key to on, touch the two wires together and it started first time.
  7. Definitely ignition switch, I have just "hot wired" the car and starts 1st time every time. Not bad for a car that's been sat there for 18 months and not moved an inch! I still have to have the key in the ignition in the on position, I know it's not ideal however I managed to drive it home so I'm winning so far! It will do until I manage to sort the ignition switch out. Thanks for all your help guys! Now time to get it back to England and start the modding! Regards, Jack.
  8. So went to the car this morning, but the pos cable back on the battery and it fired up twice.. Turnt off and tried restarting and nothing again.. I'm thinking it's definitely the ignition switch which is kaput! Instead if going through the ball ache process of trying to remove the ignition switch I thought about installing a push to start button. Any thoughts on this? I will still use the key to turn the ignition to on as that's not an issue. Any ideas or tips on how to install a button?
  9. Sorry to bring up an old thread but how did you manage to wire the start switch in? This sounds exactly like a problem that I'm having!! Thanks, Jack.
  10. Yeah I've read up something about a clamp you need to undo to get the steering column out. Something I can look further into. Ive not taken the plastics around the steering column off but that's something that I will look at doing tomorrow at some point. Whoever wired up the cobra alarm spliced into a hell of a lot of cables next to the fuse box so it wouldn't surprise me if they spliced into something else to. So when I put he key into the ignition, switch to on I get, oil light, battery light, I believe the coolant/temp light.. Also where the mileage should be I get IN 01 which I believe
  11. I have two keys, when I was trying to start the car earlier I managed to start it, one time with each key.. What sort of things could I do to find out if there is an ignition fault switch? Thanks for your help so far mate it's appreciated.
  12. Managed to plug the earth back into the earth tree. Still nothing happening, there is another plug that is just laying about down the back, number 3.. It then splits into this box shown below.. Could the non starting issue be something to do with the key reader around the ignition barrel? Checked earths in the bay and they seem to have oxidised. However I put a jump lead from battery to block to bypass the oxidised cables but still nothing. Is there anything else that is worth checking? Thanks, Jack.
  13. *UPDATE* Right so I spent an hour on the car this morning and managed to remove this.. After Removing the cobra alarm from the cables behind the fuse box I have managed to start the car twice! So there is definitely progress there. However I can't get it started again!! One cable I ant find where it should go to, it was just hanging loose behind the fuse box, any ideas what this could be? Also after removing all of the cables in the first picture, when the lights are turnt on, relay 36 is constantly buzzing. Could this just be a warning to the driver or is this a separate issue that will ne
  14. Sorry no I don't have the pin for it, manual says the default pin is 1111 tried this no luck, tried changing pin but no luck also. Thanks for the wiring diagram.. The White cable does go to the plunger on the bonnet your right there.. I will have a go at bridging the wires across and see what happens. Need to get this sorted before can think about future modifications. Thanks for all your help so far guys.
