thanks mate! and yeh this was with 5mm spacers but I need maybe 8mm just to make sure they are clearing as I masked up the caliper with 5mm spacers and it was rubbing the tape!

first show is Elsecar on my shaveallthebays trade stand but it will be 100% for Early Edition

recently I received my front brakes so fitted them and had a test fit of the wheels on the front, its going to be wide but with air ride and a pull of the arches we should be good!

I then started fitting the Stack water temp, oil temp and pressure gauges along with the Kcarbon interior pieces and finalized the rear brake bias valve

Hi everyone! Not a great update as I haven't had chance to work on the car lately but I started finishing off the fuelling setup and ended up running out of hose and needing more fittings so I ended up trimming my headlights to fit the tubular front end and got them mocked up. Need some new hardware as the button cap heads are too long

So unless you have been following my Instagram (if not, why not? @alex_shaveallthebays ) then you will of been missing out due to my lack of updating on forums lately so I thought I would start having a catch up and bring you up to speed.

From the last update I have been working on the car at every opportunity I have in between shifts and life in general.

I started by jacking the car up and Tetrosealing the underneath.  The floor and sills had already had the hard work done and been welded up in the usual place and then stone chipped but this is porous and needed protecting. I had removed all the fuel pipes, rear beam and fuel tank.

I then had the rear beam powdercoated and I have polybushed it so I refitted this with the new BC racing extra low coilovers and fitted the fuel tank to begin wiring for the fuel pumps and fitting the Bosch 040 in tank pump:

I then fitted the battery and washer bottle into the boot and fitted the sound deadening into the spare wheel well and fitted the underlay and carpets:

once the carpet was fitted I started with the rest of the interior:

I then started to finish off the engine once the tubular front end had been finished:

and fitted it into the car:

and that's as many pictures as I have on my photobucket as my phone has died so this story will be continued tomorrow.

So as promised here are some more pictures,

once the engine had been fitted i carried on test fitting the tubular front end with the radiator and intercooler, the reason why i went for a tubular front end was to shave having to butcher the front bumper and start rad support ot get everything in, and it also looks pretty cool!

as you can see from the above picture i have installed some motorcycle into the front bumper now to make everything legal but these can removed for shows etc and will be tinted so not as visible until illuminated.

in the meantime SSautowerks had finished the exhaust manifold and had the flange skimmed and vapour blasted so when the car has had a few heat cycles it will come a lovely even colour. (fingers crossed)

i also fitted a mixture of lupo and polo 9n parts onto the rear beam so i can run mk4 golf 256 brakes:

and i had a test fit of the wheels!

After around an hour of searching with the knowledgeable bloke at my local GSF i managed to finally finish my driveshafts and install those for the 6 speed swap and fit my CAE shifter along with modifying the centre console which i was very nervous about!

and thats about it for now! the engine wiring is complete and just waiting on a few little details to be finished and the interior is nearly ready once the rest of my carbon comes to be fully built up!

hi everyone, its been too long since an update has come along and I guess quite a bit has happened.

knowing that my car was always going to need the engine bay shaving and the underneath protecting whilst looking through Facebook I saw a Dragon Green MK3 rolling shell for sale that had smoothed body work, been welded and protected underneath with straight sills and most importantly a shaved bay.  I couldn't say no to the price so a trailer was hired and I went down to J-tech Automotive to pick it up.

it wasn't 100% as it appeared in the pictures but the money saved over all will certainly help to tidy it up.

in the mean time SS autowerks have taken delivery of my intercooler and radiator which they are now using to fabricate the tubular front end.

and that's about as far as things have got, the front end is coming along nicely and will give a lot more space for the Mishimoto radiator and intercooler to be fitted and not have to hack the bumper to pieces either.

I will still be using the original car for the mocking up and fabrication work which can then be transferred to the new car e.g. roll cage, turbo mani and front end.

the new car will then have to go back for the seat mounts and CAE shifter blanking plate to be fabbed in also.

    thanks for looking!

Morning folks! Not a great deal to report but finally got the new rolling shell into the garage I have built (oversized shed) and started looking through all the junk that's been left inside.

Quite surprised there is almost a full interior, painted black pillars, black roof liner and loads of little spares that will come in handy.

Found some bonnet lifters so got those fitted straight away as I had nothing propping up the bonnet and resting it on your head gets old real quick

Excuse the state of the bay I removed the front slam panel so we could tow it via the subframe and it's a little dirty

Next job was to get some lighting sorted so after a bit of ghetto wiring and the addition of some double sockets I now have light!

Well not a great deal happening as the car is away having work done but a few more goodies have arrived this past few days.

Couldn't be happier with the wheels and the chrome finish is perfect. Still deciding tyre sizes but just glad they are here as customs decided to break into one and deliver it a day later as can be seen by the tape on the top box!

Wow haven't updated this in a while. Not much has happened in the last 6 months although ssautowerks have made a really nice job of the cage and got my CAE shifter base plate seam welded in.

Also had a quick mock up with the six speed box and turbo ready for the manifold to be fabricated

Also having them fabricate a tubular front end so we can maximise the size of the intercooler and radiator and also been able to ditch the horrible plastic front panel.
