    I wasn't going to split the old 2.8 as there's not a great deal wrong with it. I thought by getting the 2.9 I'd not have to rebuild the 2.8 head?! The 3.2 is going to be a long term project, once that's running nicely, I can take the green goddess off the run and tinker with that one. The 3.2 is highly retro. It will stay as it left Scott's Vw of London.

    Hi guys, more picking of the collective club brain. This time it's to do with fitting of a 2.9 into the green goddess. I've sourced a recon rado lump with 40k miles for less than a top end rebuild. Any thoughts anyone?

    So chaps, I may have made a new purchase of a certain nothelle golf but it does have a couple of issues which I was hoping to pick oc members brains on. There's a pretty bad misfire below 2500rpm from cold. The alarm sounds once the battery is connected and continues to sound quietly when the car is locked. The instrument cluster comes and goes, sometimes working and sometimes not. Anyone experienced these faults before or have ideas anyone? (Sensible ideas please) [emoji2]

    You need someone with a obd2 scanner or vagcom to get these cleared iceman.

    Coolant temp sensor will give odd readings elsewhere so I'm lead to believe. Normally the blue one that needs changing. Hence your excessive fuel consumption on way home. Ecu receives wrong temp and puts more fuel in. Continue from there, I'd say.
