  1. Alright guys, looking for some help on my vr6. For the last 6 months or so it's been clunking into reverse (not grinding) but last Monday i was unable to get it to reverse. I can still select it in the box but when it is in I only get 1st? I have changed the plastic part that the cable slides into with the slideable adjuster ( not the cable bolted down) but still no luck? Has anyone had this problem before or does anyone know what it could be? Cheers
  2. Having problems getting my vr to blow hot air into the cab. Have replaced the heater matrix, control panel and today changed the electronic water pump (behind cool pack) but still no joy. It isn't freezing cold but more like outside temperature, not enough to take your coat and hat off in this weather. I'm lost with this now and can't see if there is a fuse or relay to try? Both rad hoses Are hot and both pipes for the heater matrix are boiling. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Cheers dlea that's given me something to aim at! Been looking at polly bushing everything just to try and stiffen her up a bit but nos is out of the question for the time being! Slicks may be the way. Carrying them around won't be a problem, I go to these shows with 2 mk1 caddys lol.
  4. sticky tyres will probably be one of the 1st things to purchase! Running time down pod isnt a problem as my old man races the split second jet car down their so can spend plenty of time there. Are toyo 888's the one to have? With the de-cats has anyone ever had any problems with everyday running after doing it? Thanks for the help guys
  5. Ok so heres the crack! This weekend at VW action i took the mk3 golf vr6 down the strip, I was 2's up and missed 3rd but ran a 16.7 @ 85mph (not good) wanted another go but due to massive queues my £25 only got me one run. I watched a couple of fellow vr's and they were running between 15.8 - 16.9 soooo...... Next year I once again plan to go to action and once again I plan to go down the strip, the difference being I want to run a 14 :s I dont care if its a 14.001 or a 14.999 but thats my goal so here is where i need your help.   7. Alright everyone, been on the forum a while looking at other peoples bits and bobs so thought it was time to share mine! I bought "Vera" localy for £450 after selling my GTI. havent done loads of bits but dribs and drabs. mileage at 130k but engine is sweet as a nut with no rattles, bangs, knocks and a clear reading on the diagnostics!   8. IACV on the OBD2 lump is located inside the throttle body mate. Had/Have the same problem with mine and im having to replace the whole throttle body. We got it working fine last week after cleaning it all out but now its been sitting there for 3 days its started again!! I work at Euro car parts and one from us is £185 on staff but you can find them on ebay for £30-£60 second hand.
  9. Problem seems to be fixed! Wa a bit of a weird one tho. We pulled the throttle body apart and checked it all, it was then dropping revs when you put your foot down but then revving it. Giving up for the day gave it a service and found the fuel filter was broken inside affecting the flow of petrol (as it was blocking the pipe. New fuel filter fitted and all is good ;p CHEAP FIX! still going to change the throttle body just incase. Cheers everyone for your help!!
  10. Working on the golf at the moment and have repaired all wholes/splits in the air pipes and changed plugs and leads. First time we started it it ran gorgeous, turned it off and now every time you start the car it will tick over at 3k and if you rev it the revs wont drop. We have put it on the scanner but it just says no codes present??? Can anyone help as im stranded at the moment?
  11. Hope someone will be able to help with this! Just bought a mk3 VR6 but the car does have a few running problems, On start up the car will rev up and down and sometimes stay around 2k rpm until warm then will run fine until you try to give her some beans at which point she starts running on 5. I have today changed the coil pack thinking this was the original problem but unfortunately it hasn't made a difference. Is there anyone on here who would be able to point me in the right direction as it is a clean motor and dont want to spend money i dont really need to. Cheers all webb
