Hi everyone.
 
I'm from Devon and have owned my scirocco for 17 odd years. I have recently undertaken another restoration on it so its really clean. I have always wanted a VR6, as a kid it was the gold standard in magazines etc. Nowadays so many people are doing 1.8T conversions so i thought it was about time to get myself a VR6 and do it. I bought an mot failure sharan for £150 with a good strong 135k engine. I have stripped it out along with gearbox, wiring loom, ecu, transmission, gearstick and some other bits. The rest of the car is being scrapped on thursday. 
 
I plan to use a 'bolt in' set of mounts from here: http://www.classic-vw.co.uk/mk1-golf-epytec-vr6-engine-conversion-mounts--02a--02j-gearbox-mounts-14704-p.asp
 
I will then get custom shafts made and the rest will 'fall into place' hopefully. 
 
First problem is i have a dbv gearbox which i think is no good so need to find myself a gearbox now....but i will ask about that in the right places.
 
anyway, looking forward to my adventures into VR6 ownership.

Facebook is a load of bollox. I can't stand the pointless updates that people put on " just nipping out to the shop" 5mins later "just back from the shop" and all that crap. I came off it 2yrs ago now and haven't missed it a single bit plus it robs too much time that could be spent messing around with our fine 6 pot steeds lol

Ahhhhh I love a vr6 as much as the next person on here but to ruin a 993 porsche is just wrong

For the first time in my life I thought I would tighten my belt - if you ask @VR6CABBS or @Dave_ciw then I'm tighter than scrooge at Christmas!
 
So far I've managed to save;
 
£21/month by switching my energy tariff with my current energy provider. £15/month by calling sky and removing Cinema from my package - I will be calling them again in a few weeks to complain it is still too much and looking to cancel unless they can further reduce monthly payments.  
I will be looking at setting up a second bank account for my monthly direct debits to come out of so I have a "true picture" of what I have in my current account.
 
I have downloaded a budget spreadsheet to get my incomings and outgoings down in a spreadsheet using this template: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/redir/e5897875 - It's worked pretty well to visualize where my money is going
 
Yep, Kids & house & cars! ha ha
 
But gives you an idea of how much you are over / under spending v's your income!
 
So what other money saving tips do you use to help you save a few quid / manage your incomings and outgoings?
 
Of course any money saved will go on the Corrado!

I'm home. How I don't know but I've made it. Rough as a donkey's piles but that was the best weekend I've had in a long time. Thanks to Dave B (Our Club Chef) who's feed me and my boys and had me in stitches all weekend. Thanks to all the club members who attended.
It's been one hell of a quality weekend. Here's some pics.....

Best weekend for a long time, absolutely hilarious antics and banter with the lads. Some great looking cars, just about everywhere you looked!

For those that missed it, you are nuts, get your arses down there next year, for me it's the best show of the calendar!!!

Dave, thanks very much to you and your better half, the food was very much appreciated and surprisingly edible! From now, you will no longer be called Dave Bradley, you will be called "Legend" with various amounts of sarcasm!!!

Boys thanks for all the kind words! Was an absolute pleasure and a great weekend! The food the beer the company and the cars! All great!

We had a far better location this year for the club stand and all the cars looked great. So thanks to all who made it and supported us!

That will be a definite for me again next year. Really is the show not to be missed.

Definitely haven't laughed so much in a long time was absolutely brilliant, I'll be doing the full weekend next year! The other Benn and his brother Matt are really grateful for everyone making them feel welcome and can't wait until next year already, though they will be bringing a man size tent next year!
Absolutely love everything about this show, the location, the atmosphere and the amazing selection of Dubs of all ages shapes and sizes. I second what Bealieboy said and say that if you haven't already, you need to go to this show!!

Sounds like a plan. Get the VR van on the stand. Lol
