  1. well I'm planning to spray the whole car a nice black gloss colour, I'm just not too sure what the side skirts will look like if I do that, I most likely will though because I hate the look of plastic!
  2. that would be a cheaper option sounds good to me. if i clean them down to that extent though won't they just go back to that horrible faded colour and if I laquer over that won't it just be shiny grey? lol cheers
  3. that's a nice idea actually, maybe I'll get that done on the lower trim like the bumpers and sides and then have the spoiler as a gloss finish I think that would look pretty good
  4. Yeah I was thinking that lol, but the car's not very low so that HOPEFULLY won't be a problem
  5. Getting sick of having to use my dash/trim restorer every couple weeks, I was thinking maybe when I get my VR6 sprayed black, to get the trim (spoiler, side skirts and under bumper trim) sprayed as well so it has a nice glossy finish rather than the standard matt black plastic look. What does everyone think? Good idea? Or avoid!?
  6. Awesome thanks for that, I don't really listen to the radio I just bought the shark fin for a nice look, I'm not too bothered if I get reduced reception at all. Seems pretty straight forward to fit, I'll do it myself cheers dude
  7. Bought a Shark Fin antenna/aerial because I did the STUPID thing of not taking the standard one off when I went through the car was this morning, and is now unsurprisingly 'missing' was looking at replacement ones, but thought I may as well go for something smarter looking, so I got this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK3-Black-AM-FM-Shark-Fin-Aerial-Antenna-/350474559020?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1102989013561012351&_qi=RTM742988 And I was just wondering if anyone knows how easy they are to fit? Is it worth getting so
  8. I think I've decided that I'm going to make a heat shield for my induction kit, effectively build an airbox around it that's got CAI's going into it, apparently it's pretty easy to do, and cheap, seems the best thing for me, was tempted to just buy a new filter for the standard airbox and just drill it out, but I really don't want to lose the amazing sound of my induction kit I love it!
  9. What does a heat shield do? I've never heard of one before, is it literally what it says on the tin? Protect the induction kit from the heat of the engine and sort out the hot air intake and fuel consumption? If it does then I'm 100% sold regardless of price. Cheers
  10. Right, so just to double check, the hot air being sucked in won't cause any damage at all to the engine? I'm not TOO bothered about the power loss as I really can't notice the difference at all, the increase in petrol usage is annoying... But not devastating as I only live a mile from where I work so I don't spend that much on petrol anyway. In regards to the BMC CDA what's the sound of that like? I hear it's not much different from the stock airbox, is there a way to get a nice roar from the engine like my current induction kit, but without the loss in power and increase in fuel consumption?
  11. Bought a cone induction kit from Pipercross, this one: http://www.potn.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/pipercross_images_inductionkit.jpg And I don't know if I'm just being paranoid, but I'm pretty sure I'm using more fuel than usual. It's not affected my driving style at all, same as always, I'll only put my foot down every once in a while, but even when driving normally it tends to use more fuel... Is this due to the fact it's sucking in hot air from the engine bay? Or could this be a completely different problem? Thanks guys.
  12. Yeah definitely that would be sick, I live in North Baddesley near Romsey about 5 miles out of town, where abouts do you go?
  13. id love to take you up on that offer but i just cant afford that at the moment, decided to just get a second hand engine and get a friend of mine to fit it, then maybe i'll start thinking about turbos next year
  14. I've got OBD2, I'll google the kits see what I can find, I might just mention it to my mechanic he might be able to get the parts I dunno but it's something I will talk to him about. Nah not going to get a turbo for a while yet, still need to get used to how powerful this car is after driving my piece-o-shit Fiesta, so turbo probably wouldn't be the best idea right now haha. What does changing the exhaust manifold actually do is it essential if I'm getting an aftermarket exhaust? I was looking at Remus for an exhaust as they sound really nice especially with a resonator delete, I pretty much w
  15. Awesome I'll check out the thread, and thanks for the advice I'll definitely get that done if it's something important, is it an expensive thing to get done? I'm not really too bothered about the cost if it's that important as I want this car to last me years and years. Yeah I was definitely going to get a premium membership, was thinking about waiting until my car is actually on the road again, but I guess if I get that I'll be able to find a few parts at discount price while I'm fixing it up was thinking about an induction kit maybe a new exhaust, and definitely a resonator delete as I live
  16. Yeah I'm gona turbo mine up next year, that's the whole reason I bought my VR6. I've not been in any fast cars at all, been in things like Fiesta ST's Focus ST's and that kinda shit, but never in something as fast as that, tbh my VR6 is the fastest car I've ever been in, and when I slap a turbo in the engine I'm gona cry just the sound alone is amazing I really can't imagine how powerful this car is gona be with a turbo. How much does it cost roughly to install a turbo including all the parts? Best price I found was £2500
  17. Yeah id love to get a new engine but its so expensive i have found a company that are breaking a vr6 and selling the engine for 200 with a 4 week warantee so ill probably get that and get it delivered to my mates workshop and get gim to check it over and if its not up to scratch i can get a refund. but if its fine im sorted. hope i get this sorted soon i went from a 1.3 fiesta which was falling to bits to this gorgeous incredible machine which scared the shit out of me and i want it back I was addicted after the first 30 seconds of driving it! haha
  18. thats cool then not too much at all, i was just kinda worried about buying an engine from someone at that price, cos when its not in the car i cant test it you know what i mean? if i was a mechanic yeah i'd go have a look at it but i dunno whether to just get this one and whack it in my car because if theres anything wrong with it im screwed lol. might just be better off spending the extra and getting a rebuild, does anyone know a good place for getting rebuilds? any websites or anything like that?
  19. yeah I was thinkin about getting a second hand engine, I found one pretty cheap its 350 quid delivered with 81000 on the clock, is that a suspicious price? I don't really know how much the engine is worth, but if I can pick one up for that amount and get my mate to fit it I'll be laughing, just can't wait to get my baby back on the road
  20. So I bought a VR6 Golf on Saturday, drove it home and fell in love with it, it's so fun to drive, only problem is, that very same day the engine decided to break on me.. broke my fucking heart. The AA mechanic that came out to tow me home said, the oil pump must have become blocked as when I checked the oil it looked really low, but then when he checked it an hour later it was full of oil, so due to the low oil pressure, I think he said something like the big end bearings became loose and were smashing against the crankshaft or something like that... I can't really remember due to the fact I
