  1. just looking and wondering why there's only 10 people online. now i know why. looks like the wrong site for me. out of here. signed off.
  2. as with anything, it's personal. what i was saying was that from my own experience and running all manner of hot hatches over the years through to Audi rs2's and rs4's, i have used and tried all the major brands of tyres and can't find anything that comes close to Uniroyals. they just aren't fashionable. but i know what i want to have on my cars when the most important thing on it is a little patch of rubber the size of your hand. this is a good review site too: www.tyrereview.co.uk
  3. toyos are ok. changed from them a few years ago. obviously, the lower the score, the better the rating. 1 = excellent 5 = poor any summer tyre or tyre with a stiff side wall will not perform as good in bad weather or temperatures below 7 degrees c as the silica compound is not designed to work so low. there's just not enough give in the side wall when it get really cold. whereas an all season / wet or winter tyre is made from a different compound and designed to still work and be flexible in temperatures below 7 degrees c. i always run winter tyres during the cold months then wets for the res
  4. all sorted. bought and paid for today, just need to get the car to them one Saturday in the next week or two.
  5. www.tyretest.com comes out with a score of 1.9 only about 2-3 other tyres that score the same and i think only about 2 tyres with a score of 1.8 german tyre tests give it the same or slightly higher but you'd need to translate the sites for the outcome. UNIROYAL are a very highly rated, under advertised tyre and bought by a lot of people who fully appreciate a tyres strength and not blinded by fancy tread patterns and the latest trend. they do what they should and excel at it. more than enough reason for me to put my money into them. i put them on every car i have.
  6. using my wifes MAC at home and cant even copy and paste the normal way. control c / control v !!! will type it out . i hate computers.
  7. i'll try and get some pics up this coming week. next on the agenda are DG AUTOTECH cams and custom re map. lightened flywheel and may just get the engine blue-printed for good measure.
  8. now you're asking ! wouldn't have a clue how to put a link on. i'll give the review website and see if someone can post it up.
  9. few days driving the car on the new set up now and what a change. the difference a set of wet tyres make are unreal. any corner, any bend, any puddle, it just glides through. the WEITEC's are probably the best set up dampers i have experienced and i been through a few. standard, koni, bilstein, avo, now these. i'd recommend them to anyone. just had a set of UNIROYAL RAINSPORT 2 delivered to go onto the BBS wheels once the crappy weather is over. these get a better review in the dry than toyos, yokohamas, bridgestones and all the other major brands and in damp or wet weather come alive. cant w
  10. no clearance problems. they are 95-98 mk3 golf vr6 specific wheels. there is about 10mm clearance all round.
  11. yes and no. actually listed as Passat / golf vr6 winter wheels. what people call g60 steels are actually passat winter wheels. g60 steels have round holes and not the oval type as you see them.
  12. yes. 5 stud g60 style steels. 6 x 15 ET 35. £37 per wheel plus VAT. brand new. sent direct from Germany. would love to go to the warehouse where all the old parts are kept on stock. will get some pics up tomorrow if i can once i've give it clean. se you're in Leigh. i'm only in Hindley Green.
  13. just got the VR back from Awesome. had the AVO's replaced the WEITEC coilovers, full geometry reset and switched the wheels over to genuine 5 stud vr6 winter wheels ( g60 type ) with brand new set of Uniroyal Rain Expert tyres. what can i say. its like a brand new car and the handling is night and day compared to the AVO's. it's so much smoother now. no crashing, banging and so direct now. will try and get some pics up soon.
  14. and having your fuel light on red is quite possibly the worst thing you could do for fire regulations. you now have a tank full of fuel vapour which is 10 times worse than a full tank of fuel. dont you just love these health and safety people ! they probably have the same rules for diesels too.
  15. will do. are they 17's ? really after 16's to be honest. i personally prefer 16's on a mk3.
