turned out the ECU was knackered, replaced it and all fine. cheers for you help

we did put Vagcom on it but the associated software was not working (we tried it on the other rado but there was a problem communicating between the software and the ECU. plan to do re-run on Thursday. the clicking alos stops when you disconnect the ISV lead. i truned the igntion on yesterday and again straight away there was a log pop/bang same as there was when the black casing was blown up on the back of the ISV. its wierd cheers for the comments guys,

Hi, I am looking for spme help with my raddo 93 VR6 148K. It will trun over but not start. When i switch on the ignition and staright away there is a random realy clicking in the fuse box and clicking form the engine bay, the rev counter needle flicks up and down. it can stay like this but can eventually stop. the engine turns over fine but it wont start, it will however pop a bit and it blew the palstic black box off / up which is on the back ISV.
