Got new rubber that fits under the arches.
 
Nothing special as its a set to tune on (and I'm not really bothered at this point)
 
 

Throttle body 

Started intercooler piping, need to relocate the throttle body now.
 

 

Well as the title says this was my first car I bought ten years ago.
 
I converted it to a vr6 8 years ago drove it around for 2 years then couldn't insure it.
 
Since then I've have a few company cars and still have one now.
 
So what I have here is a car that I don't want to get rid of even low it needs alot of tlc, so iv finally started building it up as a budget toy.
 
I have it ruining on mega squirt 1 with 630cc injectors and a 8:1 decompression plate so it's now getting a load of budget boost.
 
This is not going to be a expensive build except for the bits I can't skimp on ie injectors don't want a lean cylinder.

On the truck home

To say I’m happy with the finish is an understatement. When I picked the colour asked on the fact the Skyline R34 GTR is a dream car of mine I never imagined it would look so good on the golf.

Like I said I got a gt30 im installing, allready looking at a gt35 lol.
 
hopefully I'll get mine done for next month, I'll upload some videos if I do.
 
insurance starts 1 of April so I got to get it done :-P

This is the sort of build I wish I could justify (with the missus of course:-P)

I believe 400hp is not unreasonable on a stock block, there was someone ruining a caddy at 600hp with a stock 12v block lol
 
Think he got a good few miles in before it went bang, if I remember correctly a piston melted.
 
If your changing rods and pistons I think there pretty safe around 500hp, of course its normally a bad tune that kills a motor or a bad waste gate.
 
As for welding I'm doing my own, maybe I shouldn't looking at my end results haha.

It might be worth letting us know what the turbo has come off.
 
If it's a diesel the general rule is look for a diesel engine twice the size of the petrol engine your planning to use it on.
 
 

For sale is a complete set of Elring cylinder head bolts to suit both mk3 Golf and Corrado VR6. Unused, selling as ended up with a spare set somehow!

Thanks for getting back to me, I'll have a play and see what I can do.

Sounds more like a gearbox failure to me if it only does it 2nd. If the clutch is going you will find the car is down on power in every gear and slipping would cause it to rev a lot more. If its the thrust bearing start the car leave it in neutral and press your clutch you should feel judder through the pedal without having to engage a gear.

Hi all, haven't been on here in a while but I'm putting my vr back on the road, well road legal so I can get to Santa pod and track days :-P
Anyways, iv been trying to get vag com to read my ecu iv traced the Kline from the ecu (pin 43) and is connected the obd2 port, I've got a good ground and good 12v source the obd2 port, every time I try scan the ecu I get communication errors, I'm using the new version of the eBay cable with the Windows drivers with vag com lite, anyone have any luck with these cables?
Btw my ecu has had it's immobilizer delete by c2 and iv managed to read the air bag but that's it.
