  1. I used too, replaced night driving with trackdays, much more fun and much less too hit. You can never use all of the road even in the dark as so many limiting factors. It is a nicer time to travel though!!
  2. I was going to use one, if you can sort out the driveshafts then it would seem the better way. As mine will be out in Germany i need something that original parts can be replaced quickly so am going 12v. I have a 24v box for sale in the classifieds if your interested.
  3. Sounds like a good set up, would this be a normal 12v casing with the 6spd kit? Could you give me some more information with regards to the set up that has been installed and the diff used? Is the gearing similar to the quaife 6 speed set ups? Thanks Ben
  4. I have spoken to him, works out at £548 at the minute delivered, by the end of the month i should know which diff and gearing i will be using and can order.
  5. Definitely, if you are into cars (presumably you are being on a car forum!!) then you will be in heaven and will be cancelling your holiday, getting rid of the misses and making the most of the time out there!
  6. 3.68 seems like the best area for me, although sacrificing a bit of normal usability (70mph speed) it is only really going to do that a couple of times at cruising speeds and so i think that is the way to do it. I shall give stealth a call and see the prices. It will be without a LSD as i cannot afford that at this time of year, its going to be an internal swap over only i think which is a shame. Thanks
  7. As you would have seen (possibly) i have a wanted add for a modified gearbox. I'm about to start an overhaul of my car after another year of trackdays and 'ring trips and am fitting a 24v 2.8. I want to use the 12v gearbox but with the 16v internals for a more track biased gearing set up. Either that or a different final drive from a G60 being the alternative. My question then is - a) Which will give the best track set up? (Pure track car, doesn't matter about cruising speeds etc) Who does Gearbox rebuilds and any rough prices? c) Who do you use for these rebuilds, any reccomendations? I a
  8. Always budget slightly more just to be safe. Things like getting the car ready and recovery really bump up the price. Also always go with as much cash as you can, try not to skimp on car preperation at all if you can help it. If you have anything wrong the 'ring will highlight it. Well worth it though!!
  9. Head to your local bodyshop. They should be able to match the colour on the chips that they have with their relevant paint manufacturer. Ask them to come out to the car with the VW colour chips and then you can check them as well. A mainstream bodyshop would be better as they are more likely to hold these where as smaller places would order the paint as they require it. Hope that helps. Cheers Ben
