thanks for the advice chaps, ive read G.S.F do a bosch pump for about 60 quid.have to order it monday as im getting worried about my baby.

my vr has now sprung a small leak around the bottom of the auxilery water pump,made meself look a bit of a tit as i ordered a waterpump from vw.luckily i didnt have to pay for it.are these auxilery pumps likely to fail or could it just be a split or blocked hose?having to top up coolant every 3 to 4 days and now its getting warmer need to fix it asap.

can anyone tell me how much of mission it is to change the waterpump on my 1997 vr?also im a bit of a novice on engines and things, is the pump on the back right corner of the engine near the top?

after a year and a half ive finally sorted my vr,after forking out on new ht leads, a new coil pack, new platinum plugs and 2 diagnostic reports it was running like a bag of shit,ive cleaned everything you can think of and still shit.last week i thought id try one last thing and went out in the dark, started her up and checked around the ht leads.one was sparking alot around where it fits the plug.it turns out the first set of leads i had fitted were cheap tat.after fitting a new set from vw i have my old car back.ive had it 7 years and its still a joy to drive.i love it.

Thanks for that advice,thats wot came up on first diagnostic report but when RAC plugged it in there was no fault there.gotta be sensors, throttlebody or blocked cat,just gotta start with the cheapest.

hi, really need some help sorting my 1997 golf vr6.had the car nearly 8 years and 7 of them have been excelent.now last year i had spluttering problems in the rain, after fitting new ht leads, platinum plugs and a new coil pack the problem vanished.2 weeks later the car starts holding back at low revs,not when its cold though.once i nail it and it clears it go like it alwys has.had the throttle body off and cleaned it and it was fine for a couple of days and then starts again.had 4 people look at it including RAC and they all say it could be throttle body related or blocked exhaust.anyone plea
