  1. Hi not huge power, was running standalone with 3 maps currently 260-280-340, the 340 destroyed a quaife 6 speed box! When it's haldex'd I'm looking for 450,550 and 650, Scirroco.com is the best for peloquin as he has direct contact with Gary (mr peloquin) the ricer boys and BM (BuM lovers?) really rate the m factory stuff and they are trying to break the VW market. http://www.grinspeed.co.uk/product-category/volkswagen/ seem to be the UK distributors and I believe the prices quoted are inc of vat as when you go to cart all they add is 9.99 postage, if that's right then it's 100 quid for bolt k
  2. I have 2 pumps but don't know what they are! Problem when you get someone else's project! I have a custom fuel cell and allegedly a Motorsport pump in it and another one pulling fuel to an external swirl pot. all I can say is that when the external one kicks in that's all I can hear, start up is great as you can hear the priming before as key turn bit don't expect to hear any music until your rolling! I would suggest measuring what the turbo requirements an comparing it to your current fuel pressure reg standard odb2 is 3 bar and I believe that some odb1 run a 4 bar one let us k
  3. Love you BK but F u c k off! So I bought a lemon! Just call me Mr Delmonte!
  4. Don't take these figures for granted, not every box is equal! I ripped through a 6 speed quaife gearset only running 340! Speaking to quaife they only rate the kits to take standard power! So 174? Whatever you do it will only find the next part in the chain to break. S/C don't cause as much of an issue as they only hit maximum boost at the top end of rev range, turbos cut in fully earlier and cause extra strain on the gearbox. Personally I would not run more than 300 through a standard box and expect reliability. I am getting my replacement box till I go haldex and I am getting the diff bolts
  5. You can never have enough of BOOST!
  6. So have you bought the standalone? Which did you buy? Been there and done more money than needed! If I was you I would keep the original ecu as standard, get one to 'chip' and when you come to sell the charger sell it with the chipped ecu so you can put the car back to standard. That's the great thing about S/C they are bolt on in half a day. Unless your running big boost. A shrick mani allegedly pushes 6 psi into manifold upto 4k and that's on a standard ecu! Check bennyk's build. You will get the best advice here as we have all been there or tried to do it! good luck
  7. Pete, does Vince not do ODB1's?
  8. they hold no more power than the 02A, here is an article from NASA about peening http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/19820024860.pdf the results read that it makes the metal more resistant to fractional stresses by about 1.5 times. 3rd is renowned for getting stripped so for £150 extra i think its well worth it. plus they come back all shiny! just need a clear case to show them off now...... cheers steve
  9. right ok, found this place http://shotpeeningservicesuk.com/contact/ £150 to do 2-3-4 gears includes the chrome finish as well. cheers steve
  10. How did you get on? Hope it's all sorted now. s
  11. Hi, I want to bullet proof my 02c until I get my haldex convo done. Been looking into peening and currently have got a quote for 430 plus vat to do the whole gear set, I really only want 3rd and 4th done but the guy won't do it. Can anyone recommend anywhere darn sarth (down south) that does it and also general opinions about it. cheers steve
  12. Hi, Vince at stealth racing does most on here, not sure what he charges now 350-400? If your going that route get all the mods you want done then get it mapped otherwise another mod = another visit = more money! VRsuper did you go piggy back or map and tune? I would be surprised if you had it chipped at somewhere like stealth they would have let it go not working right? im running standalone myself (emerald) and I like being able to fiddle and multiple maps but a good odb2 tuner should be able to do what's needed with a standard ecu, standalone is also cheaper to remap as its done by
  13. needs a price mate and the link doesnt work (at least from my work)
  14. do you need any cheese to go with that grin on your picture Ben?
  15. is the center dash heater controls dials or levers? if dials what sort of condition is the dash in. cheers steve
  16. how much are you spending? its all about money. cheap Audi 1.8T Air intake temp sensor (standard is in block and gets heat soaked) rewire to cooler area maybe inside airbox? airbox mod - drill huge holes or cut the bottom of the air box out DIY port head and throttle body panel filter medium 250-1000 install new cams 263's 267's etc ported and big valve head 3.67 final drive (no power but better gearing, would look to do diesel 5th gear for better cruising) also if gearbox is off lightweight flywheel and chains 2nd hand charger? n
  17. DRP? got one for my haldex conversion, going to get uprated OEM shift forks 1-2,3-4 have the shaft filled solid and welded and the 4th gear support. Mart (Hotgolf) from the GTi forums will be building it for me. Been looking at these for the diff, well known by ricer crew and Beamer boys http://www.grinspeed.co.uk/product/volkswagen-golf-r32-mk4mk5-02-08-02m-6mt-front-mfactory-helical-lsd/
  18. Thanks for the gratuitous engine porn! what you doing gearbox wise? I have read the 32 box can be a little weak when running big power. good luck steve
  19. You need to remove the chip and rewrite the code, or possibly add a piggy back chip. That's all folks. You can't program them on the fly. More power is money. You may get a few HP with a piggy back chip but it needs extra stuff like cams etc. To make it go well. good lick s
  20. sorry for the annoying American!
  21. Ok, switching gears doesn't mean good clutch. From what your saying is you change gear the revs rise quicker than normal and you don't accelerate as quick as normal? If you weren't getting enough fuel your revs wouldn't rise at all and you would jerk and misfire?
  22. Hi all, buying some bits in for my haldex conversion and came across this place. Www.epytec.de, anyone used them or their parts? Thanks for looking. steve
  23. Sounds like clutch mate, when it slips the revs go up but no or little power gets to the wheels. s
  24. do the MK4 golf alloy calipers fit the rear? is it original dragon green as the front scuttle looks beige? i was looking at these http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/speedline/challenge/silver/17-inch/225-55-17/kumho/ecsta-x3-kl17/w-max-168-mph/300 for mine almost OE ;-) good luck, we all love a project s
