  1. Well, I've been a member with them since I put the VR on the road in October. At the time of joining, membership was £34 for the year. After being bombarded with life insurance policies from them and all the rest of it, I just accepted the basic deal....roadside assistance and pick up. I asked if there was any hidden charges involved and that I wanted the full T's n C's in my membership letter. I read through all of it and couldn't find any obvious loops for them to grab more money. How wrong was I?? 3 call outs on the road in the first 2 months.....which I'd already diagnosed the problems be
  2. Sorry guys. I wanted to take the car up the stip. With the engine running slightly shite, needing new internals n stuff, I don't think there is much point. Guesstimation of about 150ish bhp atm. I'll have to do it next year instead. Have fun though.

    why??!!

Keep the car and get it sorted mate. I've taken the prize as one of the most, if not the most unlucky person on here with regards to VR6 reliability. Never gove up and never surrender!
  4. Great stuff mate. Im glad you got it all sorted. Some great pics, especially of that frost paint job. Glad everytings sorted now for you. Always wanted to have a drive in europe.... not bothered to yet.
  5. Did I kill this thread or is it not everyones cuppa?

lol, mine gets embarrased all the time. I managed to ever so slowly pull away from a 1.4 twin sport corsa at 60 on the M6 the other day. Piston rings need changing....as do the cams lol. I'm feeling either a new R32 or fixing the VR up
  7. Sorry guys n gals, but I am childish.
  8. Lol, good one ben. Made me laugh for a few minutes.
  9. My siggy is the best one I could think of. Also the little convoy of me, martin and dave on the way back from Bristol. Ah, the other one was of me and craig with his charged VR side by side, both dropping to third and him slowly pulling away on the way to Billing. Tony trying to take Brandon down and getting his backside handed to him.
  10. Sorry, I'm working all day sunday. I have the saturday off though?
  11. That looks like the passatt that was cruising up and down at GT INTERS... but iirc that was silver. Wheels are nasty
  12. I'm at work tomorrow and will see if I'm working that day. I tend to work weekends. I'm a maybe too, not for definate. I'll reply with my answer tomorrow during the day or at 9pm after work.
  13. I'll give you 100th of the asking price, chris.
  14. No you're not mate. I really appreciate it. My mum has gone poorly again and I've been in and out of hospital with her. I have had a few moments to speak on here, not much though. Thanks for the advice Bodge. I'll keep that in mind when I go to a garage next mate. Hope you get yourself sorted too Ben. Thanks all. (l) Hugs and kisses :-p lol.
  15. I'll do a double check on my work dates, but I'm deffo up for this too.... tamworth services are 15mins down the road. Be a chance for one last get together with my 3dr.
  16. Big congrats to you mate. She looks gorgeous.
  17. JOM are the coilovers I have. I have the same problems you describe. However, I'm under the impression that they are cheap for a reason.
  18. Private work is an alternative I was thinking of. I did do a few jobs here and there while training. Mostly on new brakes/discs and a few other things also a few timing belts too. But these were people being stingy with money. Took me 3 hours to change a cambelt on a pug307.... she only paid me £30. Plus, it's an offence not to inform HM customs and rev about additional income. I'd also need a van lol. Plus there is no garantee of work.
  19. Well I'm pretty much looking for opinions, words of wisdom and advice. As some of you are aware, I've just qualified as a level 3 mechanic.... top spec training basically. In the past month, I've responded to 34 ads on the net AND been into several garages/dealerships. Not one has offered me a trial to show my abilities or even an interview because I don't have atleast 3 - 5 years previous experience in a garage. You need a job to get experience but you need lots of experience to get a job. I've just wasted 2 years of my life training in level 2 and 3 vehicle maintanence and repair and struggl
  20. I'm not too crazy on the idea of sleeping in a standard interior lol. Only time I did that was at the POD at GTI Springfest and it was cold, uncomfortable and I barely got sleep. However, I can take a few sleeping bags to wrap up in.....being tall means I'm scrunched up...and I sleep spread out.......Though If I strip out the car for this, then it might work
