  1. My '97 VR6 failed today. It was unable to complete the emissions test because on the fast-idle part, the engine decided to cyclically rev between around 1500 and 2000. This stopped above 2000, but any attempt to hold the revs in that sort of range (1500) just resulted in this rhythmic cycling (Surging at about a second interval). I have noticed a slight dead spot at that point in acceleration during normal driving, where the power dips slightly and then picks up. Any ideas what this might be? Also how do you adjust headlight height? Doesn't seem too obvious. Cheers!
  2. P-reg 189,000 miles. Chains never done, though no sound whatsoever. Pulls really well, gearbox still tight. Pretty impressive really.
  3. Does anyone know who makes the golf exhausts with the upward flared tailpipes?
  4. But do you know if you can buy a moulded plate to fit over, or would I have to have one custom made by a panel beater?
  5. Yeah it's mystic blue. just as well I checked!
  6. Does anyone know where you can get hold of a patch for a slightly rusted front bulkhead? I'm told you can get a metal plate that welds over the rust on the bulkhead, but have no idea where you'd get one from.
  7. Cheers mate, excellent advice. Now why is that NOWHERE on a google search for "Finding golf paint codes."
  8. Someone was asking a while back whether the old and new front wings are the same, I found out to my cost that they are not having mail ordered an old one for my new(ish) MkIII. Anyway, here's how a pre '95 panel magically becomes a post '95 panel...
  9. OK, I'm paranoid about getting this wrong... Pretty sure my golf's Windsor blue, but not sure enough to go and buy the paint. Here's some photos, can anyone give me a 90% sure crack at which of the two shades it is?! Cheers!
  10. Does anyone know the paint code for the BLUE golf VR6 1997? Is it called "Windsor" blue, or is there another shade it could be? Cheers
