  1. my mk3 gti was the same, i got a new clock set in the end, at one stage when i went round corners the fuel gauge would go from one side right thr other !
  2. cheers for that 2pints, ive just been up the road for an early morning blat to the post office.. ahhhhhhh
  3. I bought this very very very cheap, needing TLC and having a weird squeak'... So far ive fitted 4 new struts, all top mounts and springs... Ive got new wishbones to go on over the weekend. It needs a new rear drivers electric window motor and a rear beam as the current one is slightly out following a bash on a kerb ! ( luckily iove got a gti that i about to break, so the beam will come in handy! ) I'm going to sort the tracking after the beams gone on , replace the duff n/s headlight and pop a set of wheels on it... oh , and listen to the engine...
  4. is there a lot involved with the wiring side of things doing a VR swap into another mk3 ?
  5. probably not the best time to mention im a spurs fan then :-p
  6. the discs were easier thank god :-d Im a WD40 man aswel lol.. great stuff..but it stains the drive (6)
  7. yep, my last mk3 came apart with just a yank on the nut with a hand held ratchet, but these bad boys were something else ! my advice.. if your nuts are rusty get them cracked of with an airgun to save the sweat.. ( or go see a doctor ! ) +o( :-p
  8. I decided to lower my VR6 as the car had the original 150k mile and very tired suspension on it when I bought it and the handling was a little precarious.. anyway, after a string of fords with the 2 bolts holding the top strut mounts id forgotten about the VW arrangement of a nut and an allen key... not good when the nuts have 13 years of rust on...and the allen key section is cracked and useless.. so i creep down to a local garage, get them to crack the top nut with there windy guns.. crawl home ... and yes, theres another nut underneath for the bearing...arggghh... luckily i had a spare nut,
