    no mate in the end i used Base 21 Paintworx to do them while i was getting loads of other bodywork done. made sense in the end to pay the pro's!!

    WELL......A bit of an update!! I sold my mauve VR to a really good friend of mine "BOBVEEDUB" on here as i was racking up the miles on it, and you all know what its like when you spend all your time and money on something then see it looking worse and worse every day, so i thought it needed to be looked after, and i couldnt justify keeping it as a second car. anyway, to cut a long story short another friend of mine "TOMPO" on here was selling his VR as he'd bought a new TypeR, so as it had a lot less miles and was more practical than mine (wheels that could be used all year etc) i decided to b

    I'll prob go to Ed38??? not sure though...will prob only go if its forecast to be sunnnnnyyyy!!! last year the rain put me off shows all together, everyone i went to except bristol was totally wank weather!!

    i've done various panels with spray cans and to be honest with decent prep work and plenty of time and effort with the flatting, cutting and polishing, you can get quite a decent finish. obviously not as good as a propper job but good enough to not be noticeably shite!! I do have a massive compressor and all types of guns, but unless you have a booth / oven, you still have to rely on the trusty polisher to finish things off. you really can pollish a turd ;-) Just dont skimp on the clear coat / laquer, you will never get a decent shine without a good coat of it.

    E38 mate. if its top notch quality modified VWs you want (but not much else) E38 is the one to go to. Best watercooled show i have been to by far!! If your missus isn't into the car thang and just wants to potter around the trade stands etc...it probably isn't the best for that.

    ha ha. yeah i know! the fact that it was a gti makes it even better to me...and i didn't have the trouble of doing the conversion!! BONUS!!! although i drive it that slow nowerdays and with the price of fuel...maybe i should convert it back?? lol
