  1. Sorry about this but I just wanted to confirm the crossings and times, are the below the same as most other people, would rather come across with the rest if you know what I mean... 21.3.2008 07:00 Dover - Boulogne Fast Ferry 24.3.2008 20:50 Boulogne - Dover Fast Ferry
  2. Im in, just booked ticket!! Roll on Easter!! Something Ive always wanted to do, although a little to do to the car beforehand, as it sounds most people on here do.....
  3. Im definately interested in this, spaces still open?

    roof lining

aint that the truth!! Real pain in the what not to get back in, get someone to help you or you will screw up the new one too, very easy to break on the way back in, it is extremely flimsy by the sunroof.
  5. When you are changing the clutch, the whole of the timing chain is exposed anyway so it is an easy job. The only diffcult part is making sure you keep the timing in check, but both cam shaft sprockets have indicators on them anyway, just keep crank in the same place. Would not pay £750, or even £500 for it, well over priced, you need the gearbox out anyway for clutch renewal.
  6. In moy opinion, it is the camshaft sensor, i had this problem, after it was hot the car refused to start until it was cooled down again (about 10mins) started on the nose when cold though. I would definately check that, just bought 1 for myself from VW £40

Just rung the guy, very helpful, not pushy with any brand in particular, was pushing more for the cheaper end of the market to be honest rather than more expensive ones. I got him coming out next Tuesday to fit one for me. I'll let you know how it all goes.
  8. VR6 anyday over the JapCrap. Maintenance is a nightmare on the little buggers, plus, imagine a long motorway journey with the neddle at 5000 most of the way, no thanks, im very happy with my choice in quality car!!
  9. LOL Excellant!! Im one of the Standard looking VR's, think there needs to be more of them back on the roads! Tastefully modded ones look the dogs but you cant beat the 'im not a fast car' standard look then just put your foot down!!! Thumbs all the way!!!!
  10. Ok, Update. I coated the pack in epoxy resin, only saw a couple of VERY SMALL cracks, nothing that I thought would cause an issue, got it back on the road again this morning and all is good apart from a very small hesitation as you push the accelerator down very gently, like the ECU is catching up with pedal push, sounds strange but that is the only way I can think to describe it.
  11. Yeah, they are still around £150 ish from them, alot of money unless im sure if you know what I mean. Rather leave that to the end unless I know 100% it is causing it, been told if may be failing inside rather than cracks.
  12. Ive had it on a VAG-COM already, no error codes at all. The Lambda probe causes it to idle badly yeah? Mine is idling perfectly. So that rules that out. Fuel pump realy, pump and coil pack left. Thanks so far lads and lasses!!
  13. Hi, I have a 95 VR6 Golf, OBD2. I have only had it for about 6 weeks but is the second ive owned, it has been running REALLY well up until about 2 weeks back when it started to develop a very slight misfire, it was barely noticable but me being me being picky noticed it. It has gradually been getting worse, dont have any issues starting it at all, first time every time hot and cold as you expect from a VR. While it is cold, it runs faultlessly, smooth clean and strong although I never really 'push' it whilst it is cold for obvious reasons. Last week I took it to VW for its 100k service then af
  14. I am after info on this too as I was looking into doing it. As I understand it, they go straight on with a hose modification and yes the mod is well worth it as they are much more responsive.
  15. Thanks for the response, I have a VAG-com system myself, I have had it on there, cleared the error several times but it keeps on coming back, I must admit it did go away for one day, so I will try what you have suggested, it makes complete sense to be honest. Thanks again
  16. Hi My pump has failed and I need to replace it, anyone know for definate which part i need to take off. As you look at the bay, i am presuming it is the thing at the back by the bulkhead just infront of the passengers legs, problem is there are brake pipes leading up to it obviously so i dont want to take off the wrong bit.

    Wheels

Does anyone know if Mk4 Golf wheels will fit the Mk3 VR6? Looking to get a set of steel wheels whilst mine are being refurbed.
  18. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, police pulled him for no good reason other than, 1) probably because he is black and has a fast expensive to run car 2) he is young 3) he has a bad attitude towards the police. Problem being if he is old enough to afford the car, does so legitimately and still gets pulled as often as he says then I can understand why he is annoyed at them, the police then probably jsut took the penknife because that is all they caould get him for!! Good on him for being legit and proving the police wrong!!
  19. i am pretty sure that they are a very simply push on and off, dont think they are like the fronts at all where they are pressed in.
  20. Ive heard that the Mk4 calipers are much better, more respnsive feel to the pedal if you like, and more reliable, the mk3 tend to stick...
  21. Hi, Has anyone put mk4 Calipers onto their VR? I want to uprate mine but was wondering how much work is involved in it and what parts I will need. I heard it is just the Calipers and a pipe that is needed, making it a very simple job...
  22. Cadguy, do you still have those cams?
  23. A mate of mine MAY well be selling his recon'd lump. Was carried out by Stealth not that long ago.
  24. Try the cam shaft sensor, my VR wouldnt start at all when warm, I went through loads of sensors and pumps, eventually it turned out to cost me £18 from VW and started no problems at all afterwards.
