  2. Where is darlington? can you use one of the guys with Vag-Com (I have it but think you are a way away)
  3. Does it happen only whilst you are moving along? Does it happen at the same time as braking AND changing gear? or is it just when you change gear? Does it happen when chainging up as well as down the gears? Does it start up straight away again after cutting out? Does it run fine at other times, is acceleration nice and smooth, consistant and strong? Try to give as much information as possible mate. If you can answer the above questions as accuratly as possible then it will give me a better idea and more able to diagnose the problem.

  9. wont be a knackered motor as the sunroof does move under the normal operation. Probably a broken peice of plastic I would have thought unfortunately...
  10. ditto, you should get a little spanner for the service if anything other than the IN00 or IN01 etc etc...

  13. I have no rust on mine at all, you need to buy one that has been looked after, not one that has been owned by a complete tosser at some point in its life as they just dont look after them, I have no rust at all on both my mk2 and mk3. Infact, on all 3 mk3's that I have owned ive not had a single piece of rust...
  14. Plus when the oil gets warmer it thins so it could be something to do with that too
  15. You have two chain tensioners, one at the top of the engine and one at the bottom of the engine, located between the block and the gearbox.
  16. Ok, a question to anyone that knows, How do you post a how to?
  17. Ok, all done and dandy, nice quick job once you have the piece you need. I am working on a 'How to...' as I write this, will be ready shortly lads and ladies...
  18. Yeah thats what I thought when I first heard it, I think with a bit of adaptation and a big hammer it may work though, I will try with the old one that I take out and see if I can and let you know tomorrow
  19. Good thinking, I will take photos at each point and put it up tomorrow
  20. Yeah it will be, my problem is exactly the same with the same window too, I think the channels up the side of the windows get old and dried out over time which puts excessive pressure on the mechanism whilst trying to operate, you can squirt some PTFE/Silicone spray in those side channels and it makes the window operation much smoother, same old problem that VR6's suffer with when it comes to the sunroof.
  21. ahhhh, the understanding sets in. Yeah I will get some photos tongiht of the back of the channels as Im fixing mine tonight so i will get a photo of broken and new, that ok for you, as in soon enough? Admittedly it is obvious once out but it never hurts to get a heads up.
  22. I have the exact same issue, the post above by The Goth has the image of the window gubbings, what you are looking at is the front of it, on the back the metal channel has a steel braided cable with a 'nut' of sorts in the middle of it, there is a plastic, yes plastic (where is the logic?) bracket that slips over the nut on the cable, when the motor moves the cable up and down the nut moves with it and the plastic bracket which clamps to the window. This said plastic bracket has a metal reinforcing plate on the bottom part of the plastic braket but not the top. The plastic weakens over time an
