  1. Thanks Porki....motorsportworld do seem pretty competitive on prices.
  2. Thanks for all the replies so far guys. Looks like I would be making a good choice with either. Any particularly good suppliers/good deals?
  3. Hi folks, My VR6 project is slowly coming together... (watch this speace for a full project thread soon hopefully!) Meantime I am trying to gather together all the parts I will need. Now I know suspension is a very much a matter of taste and opinion but I'd appreciate your collective thoughts on running either of these packages: Koni SportKit, or H+R Sport/Comfort Kit I'll be running 7.5 x 17 rims which will need hub adaptors... (£200 for the H+R ones!) I was thinking of using the H+R roll bar kit too but Eibach seems to be the most popular. Anybody got any experiences of H+R? Thanks in adv
  4. Thanks for that richie....bloody expensive but I guessed it would be!
  5. Hi folks, Can someone give me the correct part number for a 1994 Golf VR6 starter motor (manual transmission) please? Dealership has no idea seemingly.... Cheers, Duncan
  6. Following on from VR6_ABSY's point about what else might be worth doing at this stage; what would you guys recommend is renewed with the engine stripped to this point? For sure I can see the value in the clutch etc...just wondering if there is anything else major that would be prudent to attend to? Cheers!
  7. Thaks fellas, really appreciate you knowledge and advice on this one....as I say, it's new territory for me. The car is getting a full respray anyway so I can hopefully incorporate the arch rolling into the job. I've checked out the H&R site and their stuff looks top quality. Any UK stockists at a good price for the PCD adapters?
  8. Thanks for the replies guys. It does seem to make sense to do the lower chain all said and done. Likewise, might as well do the clutch too! The bank balance is going to be seriously crippled but peace of mind is worth it.
  9. Hi folks, Just wanted your collective wisdom on this: My '93 VR6 (125k) is in my local independant's workshop just now with suspect blown head gasket. As this is being attended to I've asked him to take the plunge and replace the timing chains etc too. He is saying that there is very little need to replace the lower chain/tensioner etc and as this involves removing the gearbox to do the job it would add a fair bit to the labour. Is this the case? Also, if the head gasket has gone is there generally a need for the head to be skimmed? Thanks in advance as always, Duncan
  10. I hear what you are saying guys....great advice. So how do I know which adapters to go for, 15 or 20mm? The arches at present are totally stock. The et on the Antera's is 35. I've never had to have arch work done to fit wheels before so I'm kinda slow on what's involved exactly. Can someone give me a layman's guide and possibly a recommendation on people that'll do the work? I'm in central Scotland if that helps geographically.
