  1. Don't really want to go that extreme.. just any little bit that will help. Turbo or Supercharge would be a great option but cost can't be justified to the other half at the moment and she sometimes drives it on the way back from pub so I don't fancy sleeping on a cold shell!
  2. Was just wondering what components of the car could be replaced with lighter items in the aid to shed weight? Ive striped the boot and removed the spare wheel.. even took my cd-changer out. I read somewhere that you can buy a light weight battery that will save around 20lbs? Single wiper conversion... smaller wing mirrors...?
  3. found out i got drill the holes and then buy some nuts and bolts and feed the nuts from arches and bolts on top.. not a friday evening 20min job then!
  4. Guys, Purchased a strut brace from ebay, got and can't see how it supposed to fit to car..[sorry about size]? There is no way to fix it to the suspension.. through bolts or even using the top mount...? The packaging says Golf/Jeta III (92-98)?
  5. oopppss.. went to the pub instead... send me a PM with ur number and i'll send u the pic... or wait till i get home and i'll post it...
  6. Ex has over-ruled.... she played the guilt trip.. so i'm not allowed to enjoy being proud of my VR5.. have to entertain my daughter.. not all bad, but wish she was more flexible. Maybe another time guys.. thanks for your efforts vdubgirl.. appreciate it... if im round your area, i'll drop of some samosa's!
  7. Ok, just waiting on confirmation from the ex on times etc... hopefully know by lunchtime and if I get the green light then will bang the £5 across on paypal to the email address supplied. Thanks.
  8. I'll take a picture at lunch on me motor and post it if the bl00dy rain stops (1995 Rado Auto)...
  9. I can make this if I its possible to get a slot early on as I have to pick my daughter by 11am-ish from her mums else she will make some excuse up for not letting me see her for a while? Long shot, but thought I'd ask? Oh, and I can confirm powerstation is a brilliant place.. had my WRX sorted here: http://www.heerit.co.uk/subaru/power_run.html
  10. Thanks. Do I need to remove the screws on the side of the dash (drivers sides) to take a look at the SRS/ABS unit that light's up.. or can I get to it from below? I'll take the car round my dads on the weekend and get him to check the rear sensor... good news about the EVAP valve fault.. save me a few bob over xmas!
  11. Bought a DTC reader from Germany after someone suggested it to me - read the ECU on the wife's highline and got the following faults: 01247 - EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve - N80 (cleared) 00287 - ABS wheel speed signal #3(right rear) -Range/Performance (G44) I thought something might be wrong with the ABS as the light doesn't come on ignition start-up. Does the sensor need replacing on the rear right? is this a pain or can it be done DIY?
  12. It will cost about £200 to do the whole set of speedlines.. alot of people like to keep them on or have them as a spare set to the 17's. I put a set of 17's (TT's) on mine without lowering and it looked ok - not silly.. eventually I lowered once saved up some more cash and it doesn't look better.. Check out these pics http://www.heerit.co.uk/vw/side.JPG http://www.heerit.co.uk/vw/car6.JPG 1st pic is with 17's and standard suspension, 2nd pic is with it lowered.

    VR6 Virgin

Welcome, Couple of things I checked for when I bought my Corrado VR6... 1) Check the ABS light comes on when ignition turned and then goes off - big orange lamp in centre of dash.. 2) Check the seats flip forward (make sure handle isn't broken/snapped).. 3) same with the front seats sliding forward.. 4) check wing mirrors move.. 5) check sunroof, can fail.. 6) obviously check rear spoiler and on the manual switch.. 7) check for water leaks in passenger footwell... 8) check heater dials turn and air comes out (can snap easily).. 9)check water tank for water level.. 10) standard speedline alloy
  14. Bought a complete suspension from volksbits for my VR6 - £175 all in.. and it does the jobs and looks ok. Out with the old: and in with the new and the end result Can't complain - rides comfortable, nice tight ride and handles/turns in as you would expect.. wife likes it aswell (she drives it the most).
  15. The popping could be the decat (got a decat on my WRX and it pops a bit between gears)... as for the flames.. over-fueling perhaps.. was the remap done after the exhaust?
  16. Excellent - just purchased the reader - delivery is 4/5 days - will plug it up before I ring Steve. Thanks mate.
  17. Guys, After reading lots of hints and tips I gave the car a once over tonight and the first thing i check - ABS light on ignition - didn't appear...? Could be a few things..? Bulb blown... or previous owner disconnected it? took it for a spin, empty road slammed on the brakes and behold I screeched my new tyres. I was well vexed! My wife and 14 month daughter use this car and now it's not 100% to do so. My options? Expensive check at VW or specialist? For the record it's my wifes Golf VR6, not my Rado VR6!
  18. Guys, checked under the hood.. am I looking at the correct bolt..? http://www.heerit.co.uk/vw/gearbox.JPG
  19. Sorry to post in a dead thread, but is there anyway to pull the ball end out (on strut) after it's clipped into the bolt? I was trying to put it together (INXX - away from the car) so could work out what's going on, and guess what, the feckers don't come apart? I've tried pulling it with pliers with the other end in a vice.. no luck? Am I screwed?
  20. Well I sold my WRX and needed to fill the void so I bought two VR6's for the cost of selling my Impreza. Golf is a better drive, but Corrado much more fun!
  21. Oh well, looks like I will have to get my hands dirty and go down the de-cat route... reasonable mod for £40?
  22. Thanks for this, I'll take a look when I get home - and it's for my Golf VR6 - I got a Corrado VR6 aswell!
  23. Guys, I've done some mods to my wifes 1997 MK3 VR6 - BMC panel filter - Removed cone from standard air box - Scorpion rear exhaust - and was thinking of just getting a high flow sports cat just to help the engine breathe more freely to compliment the air filter? I know cat-bypass are cheaper but don't want hassle of removing it at MOT time? Any thoughts?
  24. I've got a 1997 MK3 VR6 for the misses (Corrado is mine) and I think I will need to do some more to her car before a remap will show any decent gains? As the Corrado is OBDI, does the remap still yield 10-15bhp? Stealth is only down the M40 for me, so obvious choice.
