Get come porkers.... I got some 996 ones on mine and had some carriers made.. matched up with 312mm discs.. looks the business and stopping power is amazing - whole lot cost me £600

has anyone painted there alloys...
kalv replied to kalv's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Thanks for this.. I got a few days off from work, so will atleast get the alloys painted and laquered up. I've managed to get some 800/1000 wet-n-dry and will get the rest on weekend and get some advice from my bodyshop mate... Good job easter is round the corner - gives me 4-days at them! -
Thanks.. I will give it a go...

Is this a front bumper off job.. or can you get the existing ones to 'pop' off...?
-
VR6Rich has them in the lower part of the bumper - can't remember what mounts he used to get them to fit...?

I got leather recaro's in my GTi and they are much better than the standard ones in my highline - would love to swap them over, but 5-door seats won't work in a 3-door! Ebay ones tend to go for alot more unless you can get the bloke to end the auction early for cash and pickup?

Why don't u just join up with the AA now (I pay around £100 for me and the misses irrespective of what car we are in) - and then call them tomorrow so they will toe the car back to London. I know loads of people who do this.. car breaks down, they join AA and call them the next day!

Last polish before re-spray, my black VR6
kalv replied to Kaz's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
Does it really need the re-spray...? Couldn't the bodyshop mop it and then polish the area's that need it? -

I want to paint my Audi TT rims black and sand/polish back the lip myself.. anyone got any steps of do's and dont's? I have black paint spray and clear laquer, but only have wet and dry 400-grit paper. [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1174309301_4477_FT0_27012007667.jpg][/lightbox]

I'm getting a quote from a garage to do the job today.. hopefully won't sting me too much as I use him regularly.
-
I called the AA out so he could atleast toe me to the garage - and he managed to find the offending pipe: [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1174217608_4477_FT164991_pipe1.jpg][/lightbox] As the garage was over 10miles away he wasn't allowed to toe it so he applied a little sealer to block one end: [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1174217708_4477_FT164991_pipe3.jpg][/lightbox] and then added a hose to the other end and blocked it with a spark plug: [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1174217779_4477_FT164991_pipe4.jpg][/lightbox] He said I could get away with driving it like this for a while as

Typical.. the one on the front of the engine at the bottom of the block has split and the other end that connects to the long pipe that runs across the block has corroded away... misses said the warning light only came on the dash just before she got home! It was booked in at garage on monday to fix an ABS sensor - now I got to toe it there and get him to replace the pipe - doesn't look hard to do but getting to it is a pain? Has anyone experienced this before or tried to replace it themselves..?

Anyone going to the "Old Skool Dropouts" meet in Birmingham on 21st March at 7:30? It's in the underground car park at Sainsbury's just off Junction 2 of the M5, Oldbury. I met a few of the guys at U-Dubs, and they reckon about 30-40 cars will be turning up.. me and the misses will be there..! This cracking MK2 is part of the crew! Need help with brake fitment!
kalv replied to herisites's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
There is a meet happening in Northampton on the first - someone may be able to help you there if you pop along with your tool set? Check the Midland section on meets. -
Not content with a VR.. so bought this aswell..

My misses has always liked fast, classy and modified motors. When we got married I bought her an Audi S3, then an Impreza and then a Rado VR6 and now the VR. She lets me buy what I want aslong as she can move the seat up and down! MK4 V6-4motion is an option, but I really want to charge the VR, it's the whole reason I bought it - the Vf one has been mentioned and I've done some readin up on it, but it's justifying the price to the misses - which is why I need to make some money from the house! I've been to UD, me and the misses are going to the 'Old Skool Dropouts' meet in Birmingham on the 21 -

The misses paid for the VR in the first place and funded half of the GTi donor car to complete the VR - so can't chuck her in with the deal.. be a bit harsh?? I've asked an accountant mate to see what I can do on the house front... my wife owns one and so do I, renovating my one to sell on and start the property ladder - hopefully throwing up enough for a deposit on another and a supercharger! -
I got FK angel eyes on my VR and they are proper bright - bit pricey at over £150.. i'd go for the MK4 look for the Mk3 (have them on my Gti) and they are just as good.

My cheap run around punto broke down (gearbox/clutch) so was after a replacement. I saw a few bangers but knew I'd have the same ploblem again, you get what you pay for. I saw the GTi at UD on Sunday and enquired but the bloke wanted way too much. He rang me up on Tuesday and said if I got cash I could have it (he lived 2 miles from my house!). I saw it, liked it, it was well looked after, lots of nice mods, full history, receipets.. you name it he had it - so made a stupid offer, haggled and agreed on a price. My intention is to run it around for a bit and then swap the good parts over to my -
Top motors... its the black for me mate.. I got 2 black Mk3's myself...!

Went to look for cheap run arounds for about £1K.. and ended up spending 3 times as much on nice looking 1998 MK3 Gti [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1173859689_4477_FT0_14032007826.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1173859749_4477_FT0_14032007825.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1173859825_4477_FT0_14032007827.jpg][/lightbox] I got to admit, looks alot cleaner, perhaps better than my VR..
