  1. I have a pump mated to a controller with part numbers pump: 1J0 614 217 E ECU: 1J0 907 379 Q The part came from a breakers, can anyone tell me which model it is valid for, please? TIA
  2. Got it this morning now I'm leaving work early to go home, load it up, find the comedy store where Ricky Gervais is playing and blow that ****er away (6) PS3 too by the way....
  3. ....I've noticed that my engine seems to be running a bit hotter recently as the oil temp on a normal m/way run has gone from 98 to 102 and also the cooling fan seems to be on a bit more but the water temp guage is still solid at 90 and never rises even when the secondary fan is on. Any ideas, it DOES need an oil change but the levels are all fine and it's not losing any fluids? Quite puzzling...
  4. My recirc valve seems to be stuck or the motor's buggerred because when I push the button (manual A/C) all I get is a buzzing noise, not the usual sucking sound as the valve closes or opens. Can someone tell me where it is, please? Cheers

    MPG

I think the stuff you put in it makes a difference. The 98 RON in France (Total Excellium) certainly seemed to give better power AND economy than the 97 we get over here. And all at 93p/litre!
  6. Just back from a trip to Brittany. Ferry Dover to Boulogne (SpeedFerries.com, dirt cheap and fast), drove to Penmarc'h via Avranches and back via Normandy (Bayeaux). VR felt like it was made for Autoroute driving and, despite carrying the wife's entire wardrobe in the form of two massive suitcases (apparently you HAVE to have options!) which made the back look seriously lowered and the front point in the air, it didn't miss a beat the whole trip. Recorded the figures for posterity... Miles:1648 Avg Speed:48mph all at 30.0mpg exactly!!!! Pretty good, I think, especially as it needs a new cat!!!
  7. Love that Dragon Green colour when it's fresh or properly cleaned. The dirtier it gets, the greener it gets!!!
  8. Big no no for any modified car add is always "Thousands spent, only 2k"etc. and especially in this case I immediately thought "why spend all that money, that quickly, then flog it?" I'd just be tempted to list the mods (without prices or timescales), the mileage, the condition and the history. Oh, and get a better photo, not one half way up a kerb (again people will form opinions of it) Anything else 'bigging up' the car will put off serious buyers who will discard it like a badly written CV. PS I'm a bit of an old fart where this matters but it's sought after not sort after
  9. I've just fitted a pair of Dunlop Sp Sport 01s to the front of mine. £130 fully fitted from Blackcircles.com. Inital view is that they are much better all round than the Bridgestones they replaced. The steering feels much lighter yet more responsive and feedback is very good. Have only had chance to test the grip in the dry yet but it has improved no end. Just to further confuse you
  10. The pressed numbers would not conform to BS AU 145d which specifies the 'retro reflective'number plates used now...
  11. Here's a quick q for all you detail freaks ;-) How do you clean the inside of the standard sunroof with that 'tinting' effect of lots of little holes? (best description, you know what I mean...) I've tried damp cloths, cleaners etc but they just seem to smear and leave a mark...
  12. I'm watching a set right now as was thinking it would be cheaper than getting mine refurb'd. But it looks likely that the cash might have to be diverted elsewhere so go for it... Here
  13. It's probably all to do with the fancy gubbins they have to put in the tanks to stop the fuel spilling out if the car turns over. I think it's better to fill at a steady pace any way, that way you don't go stirring up all the cack at the bottom of the tank...
  14. Thanks. Is it a tough job for someone competent at holding a spanner?
  15. Does the airbag light come on? Common trick is just to pull the bulb unit away from the housing. No screws, just pulls off to reveal the shared ABS/Airbag bulb unit. Cables are tight IIRC
  16. Dragon Green here but it needs a proper good polish!!! (And not a Highline so a rare one )
  17. Mine one touches up and down on the fronts and only down on the rears, maybe it's in the motor and/or the regulator. Do the two look the same but have different pat no's, perhaps?
  18. Hijacking this thread, if I may be so rude. How do you get the locking wheel bolts off then (3 pin type), when some @rse at the tyre fitters snapped yours and VW want the equivalent of the GDP of a small nation to supply a new one?

    Overdrive

This is quite big but worth the wait, awesome CGI (needs Quicktime) Did a search but couldn't find but apologies if it is old hat...
  20. Cheers all. Ended up having it done at Citroen West London (Elephant's rec..)and they have done a tip top job. I spent a good 20 mins checking every detail of the repair and can't find a dull part of the paint or ANY overspray!!! They picked it up and delivered it back Took them a week, got it back yesterday and they have valeted the whole car, inside and out, even cleaned inside the wheels and arches, carpets, seats, boot, door jambs, glass and all. It ALMOST made up for having to drive a C1 for the week!!!! I nearly fell over when I saw it!!!!! If you're unlucky enough to have to get an ins
  21. Yeah sounds good, please. The quote from VW came in at, wait for it...£2400!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I believe that you can question their valuation by providing evidence of similar condition cars up for sale etc. Have you got details of the estimate for repairs? If so, how much? Where did this estimate come from, their approved shop? You are entitled to get alternative estimates and DON'T have to use the repairers they suggest... However, on the insurance front, they will deem any repair un-economical if it comes to 60% of the value. On your purchase price that would be about £1500 worth of repairs and if it includes bumber, exhaust AND a new floor, I suspect that this will easily exceed th
  23. Preferably around the Woking/Chertsey area, please? Some t**t has reversed into my VR and totally fooked the back door and sill. Nice towbar shaped dent too!! Did they leave their details, did they hell? May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits... :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@
