  1. Simple ish one to explain. From cold, my 12v turbo has always started off the key, run for about 5 secs then dies. Following this its a pig to restart... Pops and bangs till it finally goes. IT basically does it as the vr ecu retards the timing to warm the engine quicker. Any thoughts? The car is also flat as a fart on the throttle but may be unrelated.
  2. Well I can happily say, Ive had a MK3 VR6 Highline, built 2 mk2 VR6's and now own a MK2 VR and Corrado VR! Out of the lot, the mk2 obviously wins the handling and speed stakes, but then ive put a lot of money into the chassis. The corrado is in currently standard flavour, and to be honest, it handles incredibly well! I can put a lot more through the 'rad around the twisties than I ever could in the MK3. The build isnt quite as good inside as the mk3, but the bodies on them are 10x better than the golf IMO. Not only is the shape better, but the rustproofing and general feel is a lot better. Whe
  3. You need a speedo cable off a mk2 1.3, and you need to create a new feed off two of the coilpack module pins(with the nuts on them) with two inline 1.3k resistors iirc.
  4. Theres no way on gods green earth i'd pay £850 to have the chains done on mine. I had my lump out at xmas, did chains, guides, tensioners, seals, headgasket, new bolts, thermostat etc etc and only cost around 200 quid in parts. Get your hands dirty matey!
  5. Its had new plugs and leads... I cant be 100% sure the new coilpack aint dodgy, however the symptoms are exactly the same as with the old one.... so unlikley
  6. Alright guys, got a bit of a misfire problem with my mk2 late obd1 vr6 conversion! Ok, over christmas, we changed the timing chains on the car and redid all the guides and headgasket and seals etc. Was very chuffed that it ran especially as we had previously rewired the car etc too. Since not long after then, the car has had a misfire.... it only seems to occur when the car is warm. When its cold, it pulls like an absolute train!! It feels like its running on 4 or 5 when it gets to around 75 degrees oil temp. I have noticed a small amount of mayo on the filler, and I do mean small, but I disco
  7. Also, im not sure if this is related, but after a long stint of not using the clutch(ie on a motorway) , when I use the clutch it feels really heavy. then after a couple of uses, it lightens up again?
  8. It doesnt do it while i am pulling the clutch up normally, only under load. Would an engine mount make a continouous noise?
  9. Alright chaps. Got a bit of an odd problem with my vr6. For some reason when i set off from a standstill, more often on a hill(when the engines under load) I get a kinda low pitched squeaking? Sounds like something slipping from the gearbox side.... although I cant be sure its that side. Its kind of irritating as you can imagine. Oh FYI it also sometimes does it on gearing down? Any ideas? This ones definitely on for the hardcore VR6 nutters out there! !amazed
