  1. think Anna has hit the nail on the head with that. Just renewed mine on line. Lets see if they can do it within 4 weeks.
  2. I'm guessing you mean the scuttle cover. Don't know if VW still do them. Phone a stealer. Shouldn't be too hard to find a decent one at a scrappy though
  3. no, to mount the cam sensor which will need to be in just the right place to work.
  4. my best guess is that you'll need to swap the upper chain covers over. have a look in the premium members download section under technical documnets there are two guides. one about cleaning camshaft sensor and one about checking upper chain tensioner. these will give you some idea of what is needed.
  5. to run it a dizzy engine you will need the dizzy ECU and possible some loom changes as well. I have read of people converting dizzy lumps to coil pack. It's more than simply blanking off the dizzy as you need a cam sensor signal but you'll have all the parts you need on your existing engine.
  6. Yep keep them both. Anything dizzy specific is becoming like the proverbial rocking horse shite. Did you find out what your extra connector was for?
  7. it's not running very well though! Your symptoms do sound similar to those I once had with the 16ver. Fixed by changing the ECU relay after trying a new crank sensor. When trying to help another owner I donated the realy whcih also fixed his but at the time I started mine without the relay and it ran. Don;t know how it wouild have behaved if I'd let it warm up and went for a drive. But I think the warming up is the key, as if the ECU swaps to a different set up which relies on the relay more. The large relay number varies depending on Dizzy / coilpack / OBD1 / OBD2 so best talk to VW to b
  8. mystic blue is mystic because it looks purple in some light / angles
  9. in that case, 2nd row up 3rd in from left. #30, 109, 288
  10. The wheels came out very well. Loving the gun metal muchly.
  11. IIRC the fuses are listed on the inside of the cover piece. F5 is the wipers - 5th in from left. for relays: bottom row 2nd in from left controls front intermittant delay and the one above it rear.
  12. And the MAF with some electrical contact cleaner whilst you have it all apart.
  13. yep I think you are right. although the smoke should be blue rather than out and out black if so. you can get a magic potion to rejuvinate your seals if they are not to far gone. didn't work on mine but I had had my head in the sand for 18months.
  14. You are more than welcome always good to see new cars. As we are an owners club cars do not have to be 'show cars' just loved and clean. Normally premium members get first dibs on stand places but as inters is allocating space based on tickets booked that doesn't apply here.
  15. you'll need to drain the petrol tank as well as modern petrol goes stale after only a few months let alone 2 years. did you not have time to turn her over occasionally during the 24 monhs?
  16. they are the whitest of white rings :-)
  17. those are hella celis rings. now obsolete
