  1. Cheers Simon, thats a great help. Yeah i would like both beams to be on at the same time, this is because, being LHD lights the main beam is great but it dosent light the side of the road to well. So i was thinking on trying to keep the dip beam on to help with this. Other than driving with the fogs on (which is a big no-no in my book) this is only way of sorting this problem. So anyone done this??
  2. HI Guys/gals, Can anyone tell me where the dim dip resistor is on the vento( or golf for that matter)? As when i have the side lights on the angel eyes the main lights come on as well albeit very dim. Also whilst im on the subject of Angel eyes anyone know how to make the dip beam lights (outer lights) and the main beam (inner lights) come on at the same time? At the moment i have one or the other, im sure that it must be a relay link or something... Any help would be great.... !shy Thanks Phil
  3. Doh, sorry guys... The wheels in question are these Borbet XL, my only concern is they have a PCD of 112 x 5 am i right in thinking we need a PDC 100 x 5? If this is true can you get a hub adapter? http://www.borbet.de/raeder-pkw/images/XL/small.gif
  4. Well im looking at getting a replacement for the audi comps i've got on the vento. I have found these i think they should look interesting, what do you think? http://www.borbet.de/index-lgb.php3?uid=&ukey=&site_lg=lgb
  5. Soz i wasnt being anyway serious...
  6. big screwdriver and brillo pad for the residue...
  7. Just be careful as the rim of the alloy sticks out quite a bit. Not good if you hit a pothole, go over railway crossings, park too close to kerbs, hit a slightly sunken drain cover... you get the picture
  8. Also worth checking is the header tank as well. Mine split along the seam, replaced it, this caused the coolent system to pressurise as it should, blew the thermostat housing..... Just a warning...
  9. Anyone poping along this month? As the misses is away this weekend i thought id give the Vento a run out... If not i guess i'll see you at ED38 (i'm on the no-rice stand) Take care Phil
  10. I've got H & R coilovers, lovely ride, bit bouncy every now and again, but thats because im running 205 40 R 17's so not much help with the suspension there then! Goes round corners quickly in the dry, very slowly in the wet, stupid streached sidewalls not so good in the damp... :-)
  11. When looking at the engine, whilst standing in front of it, it on the right hand side of the block towards the bottom at the front. It has three round sections, each containing a sensor. has a couple of pipes going to it.... Good to know where it is as these do start to leak when they get old. Hope that helps. But as mention it might be worth doing a coolent flush and oil change first, just to make sure this is fresh before you start tinkiering with the 'stats...
  12. I've got one... "only" 2500 sold in the UK over the lifetime of the vento, so realativly rare compared to VR6 golfs... Edit* due to web-host not working....
  13. Guess what...? Yep the problem has started again, which leads me to think that it wasnt the distance sensor after all. Any ideas, as it seemed to of cleared. I tested the wires/plug with a multi meter to check for broken wires and high resistance both where fine. I'm running out of ideas now... Any help would be fab... !shy
  14. BTW baz like i your instrument cluster lighting, did you change the bulbs to leds or something?
