I'm sure there's a couple of Corrado VR6 instrument clusters on ebay at the moment. Should only cost about 30 quid.
  2. Hi there. I'm guessing you don't like the sound with the induction kit on. Not everyones cup of tea! I'm running with a K&N panel filter in my 2.9 VR6. The sound and performance is the same as stock although they are supposed to be more 'free flowing'. I believe you can mod' the filter housing (without cutting holes in it) to give a bit more 'oomph' whilst keeping the panel filter. Not sure how you do this though.
  3. Thanks Mr acf8181 Given the ISV and TB another clean. The things are cleaner now then they probably were in the factory. Result: 400 miles of the most trouble free motoring I've ever had in this car. Idling like a new car. So glad this seems to be finally sorted. If it comes back I know what to do now. After all it's only a 10 - 15 min job.
  4. cheers mate I think I will change my pads and will certainly look into the Pagid Fast Road. Unfortunatley I'm off to work in Iran tomorrow for 4 weeks so the caliper work will have to wait until I get back. I think it would be best if I left the hand brake off though! Thanks again for you advice.
  5. Thanks guys, I'm now thinking it's a combination of the two. Mine has this problem all the time but it's worse when the brakes are cold. I might bin the green stuff pads and get something different (any suggestions?). It's good to hear that the calipers are repairable though! I'll dig out the Bently and see if there's anything in it. Is it just a temporary fix by stripping and cleaning the calipers? or will it be good to go for some time? Thanks for your help, appreciate it.
  6. Hi all Everytime I brake to a stop and then set off again I get a fairly strong rubbing noise from the rear brakes for about a second before all is good again. I guess the rear pads are not releasing properly until the discs start turning. My car has been parked up all week put tonight it was like trying to set off with the hand brake on, followed by a nasty groan from the rear brakes and then everything freed up again. Has any one else had this?. I am currently running with new uprated (vented) discs from german & Swedish with green stuff pads (all changed about 4 months ago)
  7. I've cleaned the throttle body as much as I can without removing it. Would you recommend removing the TB to clean properly or should I follow the directions on the bottle of carb cleaner that says to spray into the TB with the engine running until it nearly cuts out (seems a bit strange to me this as surely any muck will be taken straight into the engine). I'll certainly clean the ISV again as it's action wasn't very smooth (gunked up a bit) when I removed it for the second clean. I've had a quote of £185 + vat! from VW for a new ISV but to me there doesn't seem a great deal that can go wrong
  8. Hi all Had this niggling problem for a while now with my '93 vr6 Corrado (98k miles). The engine runs great when cruising and accelerating but sometimes when the clutch is depressed (approaching a junction) the revs drop really low before picking up again to normal idle speed. Sometimes the engine stalls completely. It's been recently serviced wiith new plugs, HT leads, filters, fluids etc. I've heard the ISV is the usual culprit so I've had this out a couple of times now and giving a good cleanwith 'carb cleaner', I've also just replaced this short 's' shaped pipe which goes between the top l
  9. Yes it's for a full cat back system made from t304 ss, thick walled tubing, lifetime guarantee etc. Like I said, I'm getting one made/fitted tomorrow morning so will report back on Wednesday night after I've got back from Walsall.
  10. I ordered the USB cable and software fom vag-com.co.uk (they have an online simulator you can play with a bit). Ordered it about a week ago but have received an email saying that it's currently out of stock and I'll have to wait a couple of weeks. Would have been nice to know this before I ordered/paid. I know vag-com.co.uk cables are all for OBD2 connectors but they also sell a converter cable for about £35 to change it to OBD1. The cables normally have the licence 'key' built in so you can install the software on any number of laptops but they'll only work with the cable supplied.
  11. Well I'm getting one fitted tomorrow anyway so I'll let you know if they're any good.
  12. Hi there! According to my Corrado instruction manual: The type plate and the vehicle identification number is located on th engine compartment bulk head (The bit at the back/top of the engine compartment when looking from the front) The engine number on the 6 cylinder engine is visible when you look from the drivers side of the engine compartment between the air filter box and the top of the suspension strut. You should see a plate some where on the side of the engine block. There should also be a vehicle data sticker some where in the boot which shows: 1 Production control number 2 Vehicle id
  13. Evening all! I've had a quote of £289 for a custom made exhaust for my corrado VR6 from MIJ performance in Walsall. http://www.exhaustuk.co.uk Does anybody have any experience with MIJ? Do they make a good exhaust? You can choose what exhaust note you want. I was after something pretty quiet when cruising but then a decent sound when booting it. They recommended the mid-sport exhaust.
