Handbook gives the Unladen weights as 1155kg for 2 door and 1180kg for 4 door, max permissable weight 1680kg. Basic model , automatic box adds 20-30kg, other things like aircon, sunroof , will increase it.
Guys, anyone with Bentley manual, does it describe how automatic gearbox works, thinking if my assumption is correct that it will show wiring re solenoid etc and describe how it works.
Can anyone confirm re automatic gearbox. When mine goes into top gear , sometimes appears to stick in 3rd and then their is a screech and it goes into top. I am assuming that when it locks up in top gear it is done by a solenoid ( that would explain the screeching ). Anyone know how this works, I am assuming the ECU will send a signal to solenoid , possibly via a relay to operate and lock up in top gear,
What would the following Koni kit be like , I don't want to harsh a ride, think this would be any good for me. Koni suspension kit for VW Golf Mk3 VR6 (excl 4WD) . Between 1991 & 1997 Kit contains 4 Koni adjustable sports dampers and 4 Koni lowering springs. Front dampers are top ustable and can be adjusted from under the bonnet. Anybody got ideas on getting the plastic trin on arches and bumpers back to black. Mine is all faded , have tried Simoniz Back to black which helped a bit , but some of the trim is still gray.
I am getting an intermittent problem with gear changes on my auto box. In D mode it does not go into top gear, works as if I was in 3 . until I hit 5000 revs. Holds the lower gears. Any ideas re problem and what controls the gear change to top when in D mode.
