    Ive just spoken to the owner (whos actually a really cool guy) and hes willing to wait for me :-) :-) :-p So far the spec ive found out is;- full bespoke SS exhaust system with high flow cat sport clutch koenig front leather seats Adjustable coilovers Hes not poistive but apparently it might of been a H&R demo car a few years back cos it had all the bits fitted. The car has hardly been used the last year and a half as hes bought a new Merc convertible. Sounds lovely....

    Yeah im well chuffed - not on the home straight yet though- ive got to sort out if its ok that i can pick it up in about 3 weeks and make sure hes ok accepting a less worrying deposit as giving 800 quid to someone in another country is not wise! Its not easy as he doesnt understand english too well either lol Apparently i dont have to pay duty on it as its over a certain age (6 months) :-) I just need to pay the fee to register it over here :-) http://www.sat-info-page.de/golf/index.html

    Cheers lads :-) Its really easy to use- you get like a quick wet wax in a bottle and a block of clay. All you need to do is spray the wax on and rub it with the clay. I washed the car first and i couldnt believe the amount of crap it pulls off. Once theres lots of crap on the bar you kneedthe clay and carry on. Leaves the paint as smooth as glass. Next step is the scratch x to remove the swirls....

    Yeah m8 - only just though. Ive increased a little more, but i know someones going to come and take it from my hands- unfortunately im not that lucky!!! lol

    I paid £5500 for mine with the same spec (except the charger) and funnily enough same wheels (plus 2 more sets) That was a f@@cking bargain m8! Still cant believe you picked it up that cheap!!!! especiallly with the charger fitted.... They made quite a few syncros with lots of different engine specs- but only in Germany and obviously all LHD, just not many with the leather recaros- its bizzarre how similar it is to Justins as well. I think it needed the 2.9 to make up for the extra weight and transmission loss that occurs. Not sure about how much transmission loss will occur with that kinda

    Missing = misfiring. If its misfiring then its more than likely ignition related - plugs/ leads /coilpack. The metallic noise could be anything- a loose heat shield (nice and cheap!) Mine does a similar thing and i know its the hydraulic lifters- but thats cos mine need replacing- VR6Rich can vouch for that - he loves slagging off my car ;-) How loud the noise?

    Yeah its definitely the solenoid- and its usually terminal. Im really surprised at how poor the longevity of the VW auto box is......

    Does it sound like its missing? Or is it more of a metallic noise?

    Not many bids at the moment though- we'll see :-) Ive looked on the German sites and they go up to about 5 or 6 grand. It looks too nice for the guy to let it go for peanuts.... Im still hoping m8 :-)

    Yuore going to cost me enough money already!!! I wish id never of seen it lol!!! (Glad you did though- maybe a beer if im lucky enough to win ;-)) Dont know what its going to go up to though :-(

    It definitaly sounds like the tappets (hydraulic lifters) mate. Put your ear to the top end and you can hear them rattling away. Mine does exactly the same thing. (And mines got 69k on the clock) The only way of quietening them down is by using a thicker oil- and mines nearly silent now. Im getting mine replaced soon as i want it to sound silky smooth again- even from start up! If it was the chains that were worn you would hear them whether hot or cold....

    Yeah the arrive and drive are definately the best- and then compare lap times after- Thats what i always do when i go Karting. Never been to Buckmore though but sounds good. Where is it?

    Whats the mileage- the tappets are a common failure on all VW Golf mk2's & mk3's. Mines quite rattly from cold- but when warm its fine. Ive used a thicker 15w 40 oil to quieten them down until i get them replaced (they are on order :-))
