6- 800 quid tops for the engine and box.... You'll be a lucky chap if you get anymore- Also depending mileage.... Probably best to just get it repaired- ACF recently had his done by someone on the CGTI forum i think.... Only thing is it more than liklely wont be ready for inters- unless you buy a VR6 box quick time from somewhere and selll yours once its fixed????
Anyone know if the H&R fully adjutable (ride and damping) suspension setup is any good? My new vr has this setup sso would like some feedback from people who have or used to have the kit.......
from what i here they are a a bit light on the back end and they like to snap out- spose its to be expected of a mid engined motor (although driven withdedication they are extremely quick)
I do it when i drive fast -its defintely a much smother way of driving..... I find it a pain all the time though- but still always match the revs to the perfect engine speed when downchanging... And thats a good point about rushing the sychro's- i never do that - and always let the box find the gear in its own time. :-) And then theres left foot braking ;-) bet you wont be doing that tooo much in your (soon to be acquired) mr2 ;-)
My old VR had a slight notchiness (if there is such a word lol) and it had 76k on the clock- surely not worn syncro's at that mileage??? I was told it could be a worn thrust bearing, not releasing the clutch fully. Also i thought that if the syncro's were worn that you would crunch the gear full stop- like the usual wear in second.... Might be wrong though......
I had a very similar problem in my old VR- (although it was only clicking slightly and the it was feeling a little notchy) they are hydraulic so it could be the hyrdaulic slave cylinder. A VW garage at the time told me that they would probably replace the clutch and slave cylinder. clutch- because of slight notchy feeling selecting gears slave cylinder - because of the clicking noise.....
Yes bud - you'll definitely need 4 wheel alignment, for a start your camber will be completely out. I just had mine done for £45. Dont forget that when you lower a car it will tend to find any camber and follow it anyway.... Mine really low at the front and on country roads you can feel it....
Usually if theres a lot of slack then it is down to geastick gubbins - theres lots of plastic and spring in their that can get worn- you can get a kit but i cant remember where.... (apart from VW)
yeah its probably the pins pete- over time they wear away due to lack of lubrication- my old valver had the same problem- its not an easy job either- 2 people needed....
Hi Adam, glad yo got thing sorted in the end :-) Ive been meaning to call you, but im such a slack b'stard- shame about the car m8- just jealopus w@nkers!!! Best to get it done properly bud- looks nice m8 :-)
