  1. Plymouths a bit too far South for me... :-( Bristol areas good though....
  2. lol- i had lots of hassle trying to find out waht it was- its called a - vacuum valve and is basically a flame trap with a diaphragm inside. If you go to VW they'll wat 133 quid + VAT for it as you have to buy the whole inlet pipe with it. You can get one form Eurocarparts for 33 quid.... Hope tnhat helps. :-)
  3. Yeah paintwork looks mint- looks like a neat install too- gonna sound lovely with the hood down :-D
  4. Nice m8! looks a tight fit- How comes youve all got blue cabs though??? ;-)
  5. The seals themselves are chep- a couple of quid each. Basicall to change:- manifold rocker cover amshafts and tappets need to come out. Special VW tool is used to screw an airline into the spark plug thread (not dropping below 85PSI) This keeps the valve up where theyre supposed to be! :-) then valve srpins are removed and then seals are replaced 1 by 1 and refitting is revesal of removal..... The longer and more expensive way is to remove the head.......
  6. Yeah thats a little thin- 10w 40. Sounds like the valve stem oil seals though......
  7. I like them - cant wait to see it running with a VR in it ;-)
  8. get one off ebay for temporary instaltion and get cat bypass from raceland or something- then only 30 quid (maybe less) as its no different to any other cat bypass pipe.
  9. not really a long job, i got quoted 200 quid for the job (parts and labour) Around 2 1/2 hours labour. If your fairly competent and can afford to have the car off the road for a little while its quite possible to do it yourself- i was going to do mine in the summer. YOu need a couple of VW tools to do the job though- such as the camshaft aligning tool....
  10. At that mileage id be very surprised if the chains were streched. If you mean that the top end is slightly rattly. More like a tappety noise, then the hydraulic cam followers are more than likely the fault- (its hard to say for sure without listening to it) Mine is a little bit tappety, especially from cold. Over time they dont charge up properly and then you get a larger tolerance between the camshaft and the top of the bucket tappet. It wont do any damage but i wanted to get mine changed to get it purring again. Genuine ones from VW are £17 each + VAT!! 12 needed.... You can get a set thoug
  11. Yeah i think mine is set to 1.3 at the moment
  12. Welcome back m8! And those cup holders will always be around to haunt you no matter where you run ;-)
  13. AS ACF says they should be the same (within a certain tolerance) From the bentley manual for a VR6:- front camber - 40' +-20' Hope it helps
  14. BMC induction kit, SS exhaust cat back and a remap would give you a good start. Thats about as far as you can go without spending around a grand on a Shrick variable inlet manifold or big valve head.
  15. I bought a brand new gmax full suspension kit for my last VR6 which lowered it 35mm. I thought it was generally a good kit - not as stiff as what i run now, but more compliant and definitely a 100% better than standard as it handled like the QE2!!
  16. Yeah wont be major expensive- looks like someone has jacked it up on the sills and crushed them- leaving them open to rust. My old valver had similar sills to that...... (not as rusty though) What year is the car?
  17. Warren from South Gloucesterashire :-)
  18. Make sure they adjust your camber though- must be 4 wheel allignment - normal tracking is no good. Reason i say this is i didnt know kwik fit did 4 wheel allignment- my local one doesny anyway, but its only small.......
