  2. I find two halves of a junior hacksaw blade does the trick well..... Saves you buying a tool that youll only ever use once... [ Edited Sun May 01 2005, 11:19AM ]
  3. hmmm, might be interested in them m8- PM me - will be a little while though as ive spent a fortune so far!!! :-)
  4. DOnt know whether you can adjust the locks on the doors??? Sounds like the pins in the hinges are worn. You can get new ones but its a 2 man job- one to hold the door while one removes. And i havent a clue how they come out as i didnt get round to doing it on my old mk valver (although they were no where near as bad as yours sound)
  5. looks lovely m8 :-) Is that original paintwork? What rear lights are they?
  6. NO just the UFO part- got it from euro carparts- 30 quid odd.... And use jubillee clips on each of the joints... VW stealers wanted 130 quid + VAT for the whoole inlet as thats how you have to buy it!!! I think you can get the part from Ford too so i learned the other day from ACF and Ingham.... :-)
  7. Probably a good idea to get it checked on VAGCOM.....
  8. I replaced that UFO thingy and used jubillee clips on the pipe going in- as the pipe was leaking in places and it worked!!!!! It doesnt seem to be doing it anymore...and its not pissing oil on my manifold either giving that stinky oil burning smell!! Got to be worth a shot on yours for that price i spose. Ive heard otherpeople say theres does it as well, but my guess is if its still doing it after then it is seals- like the garage did tell me to begin with it is rare for the seals to go on these engines, especially at 70k,
  9. whoah- 7kk - that a bit low for chains..... Are you sure its genuine mileage? Could always be the tappets as when they are worn they usually sound rattly until they eventually charge up- mine were like this and was going to replace them..... Ive never heard a 'worn' chain so i wouldnt know but my guess is you'd be able to hear it from between the gearbox and that side of the engine.... If the top ends rattly then tappets definitely. A worn chain would sound noisy all the time....
  10. If its streched the timing wil be out so your performance will suffer too.... worn valve guides usually means blue smoke though.....
  11. Looking really nice m8- its coming on really well especially with the creame leather, lights, and VR6 install- bet it sound great with the VR6 on full chat with theroof down! Any plans to brace it up a bit? Do you get scuttle shake with the bigger lump or is it fairly stiff as standard??
  12. Yeah definate shite! no way an electric motor could generate the kind of PSI you need to 'force induction' .....
  13. Yeah that fine little low on no 1 but still well within tolerance. Bentley manual says 109 PSI minum. And no more than 44PSI difference between cylinders.... I asked the same question recently and got all stressed over nothing....
  14. Mine did it shit loads with the SS exhaust when cold- nothing to worry about unless it does it when the exhaust and engine are hot......
  15. pmsl- they both live near you dont they? ANd they both drive black VR6's!!! lol
  16. Isnt that Mr Ben???? MAybe wrong....
  17. They come out from inside i though- they are a nightmare to take out- your gonna need a jack and axle stands to do the job properly...
  18. said everything else apart from the low frequency bit! -doh!
  19. Basically this is what you want if your going to run a sub- you can adjust the amount of power you send the sub from the head unit. I had 2 amps in my last vr one 800W running 2 x 12" and another running rear and front door components. You could eassly adjust the amount of bass depending on the type of music i was playing....
  20. good photos m8- almost felt like i was there :-)
