  2. Most insurers will recognise NCD for upto 2 years after policy cancellation - a few may even go to 3 years. So yeah, keep your proof of NCD, if you 'take a year out' so to speak it's still valid.
  3. Toughening the test is fine in principle, but if people drive without insurance, what makes you think driving without passing a test will be a problem for them? I work for an insurer, we see it all the time :/ Arbitarily destroying their cars isn't a solution, but it at least provides a satisfying measure of revenge
  4. Just came to this thread, sorry I didn't check sooner mate as my car's rev counter occasionally behaves in a totally identifcal fashion, so the sensor wasn't guaranteed to work Stealth told me it was usually a bad earth, but when checking couldn't find any such problem. I even find when the revcounter starts to go mental giving the clocks a slap on thr lower right side cures it temporarily, which still seems to suggest some kind of connection problem. Still, I'd just try and ignore her from now on and take comfort i
  6. Chris Knott. Charged me £50 extra only (on a nearly 4-figure policy). Also offer agreed value, which I'd highly recommend.
  7. Really depends on what you mean by 'acceptable' Andy; But as standard the Corrado does not ride particularly well, and with so many Corrados now having aftermarket suspension firming up things even more, going for ride comfort as any kind of purchase reason is not the right motivation. It doesn't bother Corrado owners though (including me!) as the handling payoff is so much fun. Not to mention the driving position and excellent, feelsome steering...
  8. Try VW scrapyards, such as: http://www.vwsalvage.co.uk/ I purchased an ABS pump from here for £150, which kindof beat £1400+ from the dealer
