  1. and its me who keeps flashing the torch at him as its spoiling my view! you really must pull that blind down more! ooo, errr, sorry, wrong thread, wrong forum!
  2. this is the exact reason i had mine done by a pro, and a name known by vince! okay, i may not have mine fitted yet, but for the money involved in polishing it, and the wait, all those that have seen the end polished result will agree, they want it!
  3. flush the coolant out as its the lifeblood of the vr engine! many a head gasket failure has ensued from contaminated coolant or prolonged coolant changes! vr6 idles quite low anyhow(500-650 is the norm on a reliable engine) and instability at idle could be a number of things , some related to ignition parts, but try the trusted isv valve clean out procedure! it does work wonders on older (sometimes newer models to) models! i could be giving you all the wrong diagnosis here, as someone will no doubt correct, but its all basic maintenance procedure really, whichever manufacturer you're from!
  4. and of course, my best wishes for a speedy recovery go without saying! but i thought i would say just in case ! you can never assume anything!
  5. hoping you're going to be making a showing of your fine self at the bristol show, will make claire happy with another female vr driver to compare stories i'm sure! and it'd be rude of you not to make the trip down to the malvern show to enjoy some midland hospitality too! if ben can make it you should have no probs, providing you're up to the journey of course! would be a fab weekend with the vr crew in da house!
  6. welcome back paula, hope you're back to your normal self and feeling well! hope to see you at bristol or malvern for more fun and frolics! [ Edited Thu Jun 03 2004, 05:00PM ]
  7. justin, personally i'd still go for the pioneer as i think the sound quality is better than sony, and is certainly more user friendly with better features, check this link http://www.letsbuycaraudio.com/main/cdTuners/1/1521
  8. if you're after a quick fix on the component front, pioneer do a set of custom fit comps(ts-1784) 75wrms, inline filter for the tweeter, sound nice combined with pioneer hu, and at only £50 a set you can do front and rear for a ton! okay, you can buy better, but for the money they make a huge difference to sound inside! i would def recommend buying a roll of dynamat though, and putting a square behind each speaker hole on the door! as good as a really expensive set of comps without imo!
  9. sounds like you paid a bit over the odds there steve! i can get a tor alpine bio-lite with tor changer for around £620 and fitting is a doddle!
  10. bummer dude, hope it wasn't your w***ing/wiping hand! hope you get car sorted soon, let us know! atb matey!
  11. my water temp used to be around the middle, maybe a little towards 90-100! oil temp always around the 85-100 mark, depending on how much right foot! upper temps are maximums, lower is normal driving! since fitting new hoses and nuespeed thermostat, water temp stays around 80 all time, oil temp slightly less too! vrmonster- if you serious about not moving from cold on temp gauge, prob samr as mine was, thermostat stuck open so it allows water past to cool engine but always shows cold whilst moving! get it sorted tho, as it will lead to failure of one or more components eventually!
  12. the unichip is a piggy back chip in conjunction with the original ecu. it allows you to re-map it should you perform more/any modification to the engine in the future, at the cost of a rr session, instead of forking out for another complete chip program! hope that helps! 13. sure its your pads not your discs that are warped? never come across warped pads b4? you can get a garage to check the run out on the discs! had a disc/pad change recently? more info please
  14. its a bit like chopping down springs on a normal set-up! something a lot of us have done(maybe) but once you go to proper suspension you realise they difference it makes! apart from the fact, chopping springs only costs time to get wrong, not money as well!
  15. sounds like a def problem! could be a bush but this normally would pull the car to one side as well! do you have that symptom? could be a sticky front caliper applying the brake a fraction later on one side, or an abs sensor on its way out, having the same affect! it needs looking into tho to stop you going ditch bound in a late braking manouevre, something which could happen to any of us at any time! STOPPING ABILITIES ARE NOT WORTH TAKING RISKS WITH!
  16. justin, you looking at a bottom of range unit there, and, while pioneer are good units, you will be better off spending a little more i would reccomend! are u sure you got your model number correct there? i may be in the market to chenge my current pioneer hu, and if you're intersted in a second hand unit maybe we can do a deal! i currently have a deh-p7400mp. its a real top unit in the same model range as the one u mentioned, has all the gizmo's and more. if you wanna know more pm me and i'll give u the spec! if not, i would definately go for the deh-p5500mp @ £170 with a free steering w
  17. a friend of mine used to have a chipped up corrola t-sport. almost same engine spec as civic, little heavier! they really do fly if you can bear to rev them everwhere at between 6-8k rpm, but have a gutless power delivery below at anything up to 5k! the torque band is shocking and a near standard vr will have no probs pulling away from low speed, and would certainly not embarrass itself to an enthusiastic civic driver!
  18. really pleased for you mike, is that flywheel figure of 200bhp, even with the cams as well? was hoping for a little more than that with mine and not having the cams yet! still, from all the responses to the fitted schricks i can at least expect it to pick up better than it does now(although no complaints in that dept anyhow!) and a load more grunt without resorting to boyracer stylee revving nuts off engine! cheers for the piccies once more mike :-)
  19. justins right, these kits are for fitting over existing shock bodies,to make your shocks height adjustable! not the best idea really as you'll not likely get a match for your scocks with spring poundages!
  20. i'll be there too claire! the pod is always good for a day out, and hopefully the weather will be better than it usually is!
  21. white spirit should do the trick! you could also try using a stanley blade to clear the residue off the screen but this requires caution so that a-you dont cut yourself & b-you dont scratch the glass! presuming off course its actually on the outside of the screen not the inside which is why washing hasn't removed it!
  22. rang stealth yesterday to book mine in, vince is off all week by the sound of it! booked in for the 24th june, earliest they can do it, so should be back just in time for bvf!
  23. did mine when i changed the hoses for samco's! mine had been stuck open for a while, so not as bad as being stuck shut, runs a bit cooler now to thanks to the neuspeed thermostat!
  24. awesome gti can supply you the correct resistor and connector for around £10 i think justin! i got mine from there when i changed my airbag wheel! plus you can use the 10% discount now too!
  25. kev-when you say secondary water pump i'm presuming thats the auxiliary water pump, and i thought that it runs all the time, even when the engine isn't running? can you confirm this? also, does anyone know how much they are to replace as i think mine is on the way out as its started making odd noises since i changed my hoses?
