  1. I followed the advice on here and bought a front grille with metal bottom and it's now started to rust like a good 'un, just 18 months later, due to the stone chips. On a daily driver, I reckon a plastic one is a better idea.
  2. I had an 01 Scooby STi and they are phenomenally quick if you keep the revs up. Substantially faster than both the mk3 VR and the mk4 Anni. But no way would I pay 3 grand a year in insurance to own one. They're not THAT good!
  3. Does anyone know where to get decent one-piece (i.e. not the usual VR6 type) front lip spoilers from for good money? I've looked at SWG and these are a bit too pricey. The ABT-style ones are quite nice, anyone know where to get these from?
  4. I'd be up for that. I wanna put HIDS in mine, but with the LHD beam pattern I'm worried that it might be a bit too much for oncoming traffic...
  5. Does anyone know where to get RHD Inpro R32s from for good money? All that's on eBay are the LHD ones that can't pass an MOT to save their lives...
  6. I assume you've already checked the fuse. Buy a new heated seat relay, then... 1) Park the car somewhere quiet. 2) Turn on the ignition (but don't start the engine) 3) Starting in the OFF position, SLOWLY turn up the dial for the driver's seat. At some point, you should hear a click from the relay under the seat. If you hear no click, replace the under-seat relay and re-try the test. If you still get no click, it's a wiring problem. If you do hear a click, but the seats don't noticably heat up within 2 minutes on maxiumum setting, replace the relay and re-try the test. If they still don't
  7. I assume you're on the stock setup at the moment. You're quite right - the lighting provided by the standard lights and bulbs is feeble. If it makes you feel any better, the standard lights on a mk4 are just as bad! Get a set of brand new aftermarket headlamps (mk4-look, Inpro, hella quads, or whatever you fancy), then fit a Solarglow 6000K HID kit. All your lighting problems will then be over! And it will look a lot smarter too!
  8. When you plug the drive in, can you hear it spinning up?
  9. What are you using? Checkpoint? Cisco PIX? MS Windows? Linux?
  10. Same applies as for installing a VR6 into a mk3 GTi - unless you have already spent a fortune on non-removable body mods and a respray, the easiest and cheapest option is to sell your current car and buy a VR6. On the Corrado 16v, a 1.8T swap is worth looking into though.
  11. I know how you're feeling - you do get used to the power of the VR after a while and start wanting for more. Then you look into the costs of extracting more power and it's hard to justify the expense. Schricks, cams, exhausts etc. just don't give enough of an increase and superchargers can be major hassle, taking your car off the road for ages and hitting you with a lot of unexpected costs. The Audi TT was the Corrado's successor in all but name, so it is a logical upgrade, but be warned - the 1.8T engine sounds and feels positively soul-less after a howling VR. And 225BHP ain't that much m
  12. Glad to hear you got it sorted, Greg. I take it the oil pickup escaped damage, then? Well done to Jake for sorting out a Dubber in need!
  13. Maybe he filled up at Tesco.
  14. Very nice cab, cabrioman! Very clean. You should bring it to some shows - there are nowehere enough modded mk3 cabs out there! Any plans for further mods?
  15. My pics here: http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a174/antera309/Ultimate%20Dubs%20Show%20Mar%202007/?start=all
  16. I took loads of pics at this one. At least one of every car in the show, and a few in the car park too! Follow the link and enjoy! : http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a174/antera309/Ultimate%20Dubs%20Show%20Mar%202007/?start=all PS Quality pic of the fit blonde there, Nick. Accidentally my ass!! LOL! And in case anyone is wondering, the face was pretty damn nice too.
  17. What a nightmare mate. Good to hear the engine didn't run dry - you should be OK once you get a new sump bolted on there. UD was OK, but there will be plenty more shows. See you at GTI Spring Festival!
  18. The badge looks a bit different to the normal VR6 one (in fact it looks like it says VR8 in that photo! LOL)
  19. Finally found your thread!! So did you fit a new coilpack, or a second hand one? Or did you re-seal the existing one?
  20. Then visit VAGCAT You will need to register to use the site, but it is free. All VW models are covered. Enjoy!
