  1. Vince did me a "safe map" before I went down there so I could at least drive it without worrying, it was still running quite rich mind as the plugs were sooted up quite badly but I had been driving it around for a few weeks before going for a map.
  2. I would highly recommend going to Vince at Stealth, but appreciate its some distance from you! There is a local B&B I have stayed in where work has gone over 2 days or to break it up a bit I run 320CC injectors, 4bar pump and uprated fuel pump @ 9 PSI but of course all needs mapping in. Thing is with the chip you have, looks to be "protected" so no other tuner can meddle with the map - throw it away and get it mapped for the hardware you have.
  3. wowsers that's pretty bad. Don't CarParts4Less sell these? usually cheaper than ECP and discount codes available I use them all the time.
  4. https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/2692772 £239,34 including free shipping
  5. As said above, depends what you want out of the car Do you have a budget in mind?
  6. Hi mate, doesn't matter that is not currently on the road, its just getting your thoughts and experiencing of owning a golf mk3 If you PM me your mobile number I'll pass it on to the chap doing the article. Cheers Pete
  7. its easy enough to do, only a few wires from ECU plug and then run them somewhere. I cant remember the pin outs but remember one if the wires is grey, so its either probably been cut on the plug or futher down in the loom so can just splice it in and get an OBD2 plug and job done
  8. Hi mate, yes you will be able to get kits from somewhere like http://www.leatherrepaircompany.com/ there is a process generally to clean before new dye is applied but will bring them up really well after ! I got a kit from them to do my steering wheel and came up a treat !
  9. You can try http://www.twmobilemechanic.co.uk/ or maybe he will know someone, ex VR6 owners on here and also kent based.
  10. This is just for the Golf VR6. Is anyone interested in speaking to an editor to share experiences ? Would like to move quickly as the deadline is looming for the feature.
  11. Thought there would be more interest in this from our members with this. We are after a fairly standard owner and maybe a new owner to have their say on ownership of a Golf vr6. Please reply if you are interested I. Getting I involved it will only be a quick 15 min convo to get some feedback
  12. Absolutely shocking mate, hopefully some of our members may be able to help in replacing the parts that are damaged. cowboys!
  13. Is this a VR6 conversion I presume? If the conversion has already been done, then you need to hope whoever completed the conversion has fitted the diagnostic port - I have seen many conversions where its been left out. When I did my mk2 conversion I wired in down where my gear gator was as to my knowledge the mk2 didn't come with a OBD port so generally wouldn't be re-used.
  14. Hi. I've been working on an article with Classic Car weekly magazine to write a buyers guide. As part of the feature the writer would like to speak to an owner of a Golf mk3 VR6 for a quick discussion on your car. Things like why you bought one, what you enjoy the most about it etc... If anyone is interested then please let me know ASAP. Cheers Pete
  15. I use http://vwspares.co.uk/ for quite a few bits and bobs of course they are pattern parts but I've never had an issue ABS sensors, heat exchange, water pumps, slave cylinders etc...
  16. I got them from ASH performance mate, they are intended as intake hose and are re-enforced and so not collapse.
  17. Just to let you know our app is now working again please let us know of any issues. Cheers Pete
  18. Hi Guys, We have performed a major backend update including updated web front end elements, unfortunately this means that at the moment users will not be able to log into the app that is available from app store. This will hopefully be resolved within the next few days ! in the meantime, just head to www.vr6oc.com from your mobile phone / tablet. cheers Pete
  19. Wow ! That looks like glass ! What techniques and products did you use to achieve this? how long did it take in total?
  20. Hi mate. Id recommend clutch as your gearbox will be off, clutch slave cylinder always good to replace if original, oil cooler and crack pipe and thermostat house if not been replaced too. Oil / filter change with Syntha Silver 10/40. Water pump - make sure you get the version with metal fins.
  21. Good man @Philly-R6 its a brilliant show! Ill add you to the list. Cheers pete
