  2. I'm not going to use the oem one. The Mocal one should be more than man enough for the job. I went for the 19 row with the thermostat.

  3. That's if it ever gets finished! At this rate it will be next year by the time it's done.

  4. The none idle was because I was using the ABV's ecu with the AAA MAF! Changed the ECU to the AAA one and it idles. Then it was bogging down and hesitating at low revs THAT turned out to be the MAF so I changed it for my spare and hey presto I also gave the TB a good clean out and checked the inlet elbow for cracks, ended up swapping that out as well, runs like a dream now! Test drive tomorrow

Pick your toys up mate, no need to throw them all out of the pram. You've been offered a low mileage block and crank minus pistons and rods and people have said there's plenty of running engines on ebay for sale. To be fair these cars have been knocking around for 20+ years now, not gonna be many low mileage ones out there, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Your best bet if you've got a fresh head and chains would be to get that low mileage block and crank off six appeal get some new pistons and rods and build it up and hey presto brand new engine or as near as your gonna get to a

  8. Did a bit more tonight. Schimmel 263 cams are in. Couldn't get one of the sprockets off the old cam. Ended up breaking my own 1/2 x 3/8 adaptor and my mates snap on one! Decided to go and see if any of the garages would be open still and found a guy who was still open at 9.30 at night and he manged to get the bolt undone. Great result! Didn't bother going back to my lockup though as I had already put everything away. But also managed to get my bottom chain in so tomorrow I should be able to get the top chain done.

    First VR6.

Seems a reasonable price. Would need to find out what the service history is like as there could be a few big bills lurking, to name a few; Timing chains+tensionersClutchCooling system overhaulSuspension; bushes, track rod ends etcHeater matrix maybeDouble double check for rust. Popular areas are the sills, around the rubber bungs in the floor and of course the bottom of the front wings. Most of the above is ripe for replacing around the 100k mile mark
