    Rolling Road

I think that we will be organising one for early next year and then one towards the end of the show season.

  4. Cheers buddy, I've found all the bearings, all the bolts, every signal one had been replaced with 12.9 high tensile. Plus I've found the replacemt belt too. I should hopefully notice a huge differance, as I also have a soild front engine mount being made, and I have ordered vibra tech rear engine mount, and gear box mount. So they will all be being fitted same time as the gear box brace.

    Vr6 engine

May be better saving a little longer and refurbishing another engine. If it were me, I'd be looking at how well the engine has been maintained over mileage. As Paceo said, it will benefit from a head refresh and chains, both of which would be worth doing as a matter of course as the engine will be apart. As you said, its difficult to find low mileage engines for sale, and considering how old the mk3 is now you'll do well to find one imo.

  12. On the rear of the charger, there is an oil bath, the polished part behind the cog. On the very top of it is a very small breather hole, supercharger is sat in same orientation as it would on the car. There are also 2 small grub screws that sit horizontal in the oil bath. These are to change the oil within the supercharger. Although not in the easiest position to access once on the vehicle, it can be done with a length of small tubing, and a large syringe. Reason NOT to rotate the oil housing to make the grub screw easier to access is.... the breather hole would sit half way down, leaking

    First VR6.

Seems a reasonable price. Would need to find out what the service history is like as there could be a few big bills lurking, to name a few; Timing chains+tensionersClutchCooling system overhaulSuspension; bushes, track rod ends etcHeater matrix maybeDouble double check for rust. Popular areas are the sills, around the rubber bungs in the floor and of course the bottom of the front wings. Most of the above is ripe for replacing around the 100k mile mark

    First VR6.

I paid £1100 for my 77k mileage vr. Price is about the norm for an average unmodifed example. Check for rust in the usual mk3 places and that it doesn't make a metallic vibration from the engine at 1000-1500 rpm, that will be the timing chain. There's members on here that know a lot more than me about the vr and will give you some more pointers. You could check the buyers guide on the owners club so you're certain of what to look for. You'll not look back once you've bought one though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. Iv been debating it with myself for 12 months now. I loved it n/a with 263 cams. I think turbo on top will be the ultimate grin factor though lol. I was looking into doing conversion myself but this kit is proven tested and reliable. can't wait to get back behind the wheel.

  18. So on Thursday evening we got back to work and managed to get the crank bolted back on and all the new rods attached to the old pistons. We got 2 of the pistons back into the block and left it at that for the night. Last night got back to work again but it has come to a stop as we managed to break one of the piston rings and not having any joy with getting some more quick so looks like I can't do nothing until next week now!

  19. LOL for sure on Lug and not in a rush. Been trying to get of hold of him all week. I know he's a busy guy. What are required mods on the vr6 to get 400hp? I am a totally new to the vw engine. If reasonable price and dont want to exceed 4xx hp, what would be a best case scenario I know reasonable and price have nothing to do with cars

  20. 6 Month service Its getting close to 6 months now since I completed the last oil service. Since that time I've used a lot of the spare oil I had from the last oil service, requiring top-ups every couple of weeks. I don't think I'm burning much as I haven't seen any blue smoke. But I know I'm dropping oil from a persistent leak which I tried to eliminate back in May by replacing the oil cooler and seals. My suspicion is that the leak is coming from the timing chain cover plate, which I was hoping was not the case but that area is always damp with oil, especially around the join of the two p
