HOW TO: Organising Local Meets
cactusjackslade reacted to VR6Pete for a topic
A guide to organising local meets: If there is not a local meet in your area and you would like to help get involved and organise one, then we have some helpful tips for you 1) Choose a region / area you would to cover. 2) Identify a car / meet friendly location (check with owners if small meets are ok) pubs have always been popular as can meet up for a beer / food! 3) Choose a re-occurring date (perhaps first or last Sunday of the month or an evening during the week). 4) Use our members map to see other members who are in the area you wish to cover and contact them to get them invo1 point -
Event Title: GTI Festival (Club Display) Event Author: VR6Pete Calendar: Club Events Event Date: 05 Oct 2014 (Single Day Event) The GTI Festival – Season Finale is for enthusiasts of all VAG marques, SEAT, Skoda, Audi and of course Volkswagen. Now the Volkswagen Group includes Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti too, but the closest we will probably come to seeing any of those will be Bentley rims shoehorned under late Golf arches! The GTI Festival is a show where all VAG vehicles are welcome with open arms. All clubs are invited to display during the day, and after a very well received revamp1 point

When you get chance could you take a picture of the bracket that bolts to the alternator with a pulley on it please. I brought a z engineering charger and that bracket was missing along with the belts. So I'm going to try and get a bracket made. Also do you know what length the belts are and best place to buy them.1 point

Well might as well post the drive back since its so quiet in here! Hit the road early after dropping the girlfriend off for school! Nice sunny day for a drive home, sure can't complain for how much the coast usually gets rain right? Before I could really make some miles though I had a pit stop to make! TURBO TIME!!!! - HPA Motorsports Shop. One of the only Scirocco in North America right there. Kidding. I wish. Only shy a few thousand grand. haha But I did get a tour of the shop, doing a lot of Jeep TDI conversions there. Picked up 6 puck mounts and got back on the road! Amazing view1 point

I realised that the Clio had a cable driven speedo, and the VR was electronic so some sort of conversion was needed. I did consider 5 GTT clocks, but opted for some Astra GTE digital clocks as i'd had a set gathering dust for some years ! After stripping both of the clusters down, i modified the astra unit to fit inside the clio one. The end result is a perfect fit, shame about the spare trip counter hole I actually bought some slightly smoked perspex sheet, 3mm thick ( the thinnest i could find ) to make a new front for the clocks, but it's not flexible enough to deal with the clio clocks co1 point

Here a couple of pics showing how much metal had to be moved to allow clearance for the crank pulley1 point

New air ride manifold arrived a week or 2 ago, from the US. This is there new threaded version, so you can use you own fittings. Meaning you have a choice of air line, not limited to 3/8" dot air line. As there old style manifolds came with 3/8" push to connect fitting, pre fixed and sealed in to the manifold. Down side to this are, you can only use 3/8" air line, and if you damage or have a leaking fitting, you need to send it away to get the fitting re-pressed and sealed in to the unit. With this new type I bought, you can use any fittings you want, so you can run any size or type of airlin1 point
