antera309 3
If your car was first registered after 1 August 1992, it will need a cat to pass the MOT.
c4mbl 1
does it not depend on emissions? if the emissions are ok with out it on then will it not be ok???
antera309 3
One of the items on the MOT checklist is "checking for completeness of the exhaust system" (or something very similar). A post 8/92 car without a cat will fail on this item, even if the emissions are OK without it.
simey 0
It will fail the emissions without the cat, either borrow a cat or speak to the MOT tester nicely!
Guest GTiR
if ur car is below 1995 and the mot tester cant find the engine (unpeel the sticker) and like in ur boost or on cam cover if they wernt there it would be a default non cat test 86 - 95 co 3.5 hc 1200 as long as last year it did'nt get entered in the new mot computerisation like if ur last mot was a old style 1 ull be ok. VR6_Absy 0
Have a word with the tester when u book it in as it'll be a shame to fail just because of it especially nowadays that u gotta pay for a retest :@ which could be full price
h3lter 0
they changed the rules this year, you will have a huge problem compared to last year. cut a long borin story short, i had a bm 325 cab few months ago, tried puttin it thru mot (which has passed before) and they now get told by computer that car has one and to test for it FULLSTOP (unless they dodgy) had to get intouch with dvla and bm to find out because it was a south african import it was built without one!
