acf8181 0
er...i don't think the R32 is lighter than the mkIII vr6...i think you'll find its about 150kg heavier at least!EDIT: unless you have a mkII with a R32 engine as your username suggests! oops!and that mpg is possible in a mkIII if you drive slowly...but most people don't.[ Edited Wed Jun 02 2004, 09:53PM ]

kobi 0
Anyways i got some Silver Synta from VW DEALER. Only cost £15 for 5 litres in comparison to Mobil 1- Tht makes it a bargain but i only hope it's as good as Mobil 1 & Magnatec.
VR6Andy 0
Synta silver all the way, as prev stated if the VAG dealers use why the hell not!!!!!!!. And to add to this MPG frenzie 250 to a tank is OK and about normal with a mix of town and m-way miles. Although these fuel prices are doing my £its in.

maak 0
my previous golf, 150 bhp 1.8T, was far far more economical than my curent VR did a 100 mile trip this week and got 27 mpg, when doing it in the 1.8T I was getting 35 mpg. Ah well, like most people on here say "Nobody buys a VR for fuel economy" !
acf8181 0
maybe its just the 1.8T's with higher bhp then...stands to reason really, they must have upped the fueling to get more bhp out of them. i only know abut the S3's see.
SankysVR6 1
i am going to do an oil service on my 97vr6 and i wanted to know if i should use engine flush or not
acf8181 0
i have heard that engine fluch can do bad things.see if vw will sell you some engine flush (if they stock it) and be very careful to mention its for a vr6. if they'll sell you some then it must be ok.
SankysVR6 1
i know that if the car has high miles and hasn't been serviced regulary that engine flush can start showing oil leaks that wern't there before.mines got 80K with full service history so i'm not sure.

Thats only way i seem to get any decent performance out of the VR!£30 will get me about 180 miles or so.Note - the engine is a bit addictive - hence a lot of high revving.[ Edited Thu Jul 22 2004, 09:30AM ][ Edited Thu Jul 22 2004, 09:31AM ]
acf8181 0
i'm drive very hard, so maybe there is something amiss with your vr6 then?
kobi 0
I thought that too Andy, but I had the car taken to a specialists when i first got it and they did a full diagnostics on it and it was totally clear. The mechanic said it was one the "healthiest" he had seen. It does drink silly amounts of fuel, even on the motor way on a trip to derby it was only averaging about 27mpg. I'm still not sure whether the high running costs are worth the ordinary performances from the VR6. I've got to like it much more than when i first got it.... but still not totally convinced. VR6Pete 1,455
since my dastek and schrick manifold. my fuel consumption is LOADS better.... ive got a heavy foot, used to be at petrol station every 2 days, now it's at least every 4 days, didnt help that my timing wsa outta sync, which would lead to a higher consumption in fuel!
acf8181 0
yep...i think a schrik is the way forward...makes it feel a bit like an 8v right pete?...so you don't use as many revs which saves fuel.
