juliet 0
Hello there, A big thanks to all w#ho helped me with my spluttering engine problem. Yes disconected the MAF and it did maj#ke the car go a hell of a lot better, but where do you get one from and if i j#have to by genuine what sort of price are we talking. The car was still left witha small splutter on low down revs under load. I changed the distributer cap and rota arm, which i might add was loctited on ( a cording to a VW man a work its comon to loctite them on. This has cured any spluttering. Just shows cheap options some times work, But yes still need MAF. My next problem is i have no door keys for my car. Its obviously had a new ignition lock fitted in the past and because its had a after market alarm on that opens closes dorrs etc the door keys have been lost. Now i work in my friends garage garage in my spare time so we phoned our local VW dealer and ask about getting some new keys. Yes no bother they said. I gave them my chassie number and they said they would be able to get me a key for the car. They now say they cant get a key and they cant supply me with a new barrel and key. Is this right. Surly your not meant to ask your door key and barrel to last the life time of the car just because VW cant provide you with a new one. Does any one no where i can get a new barrel and key from. Your help would be most appreciated again. Ben ( homer ( I work at sellafield ) hobson

badboyV6 4
They must have given you a reason?Try Euro carparts - would have thought the handles come with new locks in them.
mk3anni 0
Not read the whole post tbh, but if you have a remote alarm you could delock by fitting rear handles to the front.
bazz780 0
fit polo rear handles to the front of your car, looks smart and no keyhole to faff over,MAF can be obtained from a powerseller on ebay who supplies bosch parts, or euro car parts. if it is a bit buggered, clean it with electrical contact cleaner first and see if this cures it (if it works then it will cost you 2.49 for cleaner at maplins)worth a shot mate. keys and barrell can be obtained from euro car parts too (i think)

antera309 3
Your local VW dealer sounds like mine. They could sell you a set of locks, they just can't be arsed.Go to GSF for them.
jb9999 0
I tried ECP website for a MAF, but it wasn't listed. Got one from GSF for £65+ VAT exchange for a reconditioned one. I've been to Sellafield, are you the same colour as Homer as well???
Russ_vr6 12
right il explain what we do at work with locks matey(i work for dealer 454)what happens is we cannot order a new cut key for mk 3s (u can only do that with lazer cut)what happens is we fax off to vw a form with all ur vehicle details on and they fax back a key number once we have the key number then ur local dealership should be able to either cut a key on site from the key number or know of a company that can (we use a vw approved place not far from us)the other option is buy a new lock and barrel set complete which i sure vw still do but il check on tuesdayanother option is take the door barrels out of the car,go into ur local dealership with them AND ur ignition key and they will (for a price, bout half hours labour) re - tumble ur existing locks to ur ignition key, that would prob be the easiest thing from ur point of view mate - its a bloody fiddly job tho, messin around with tumblers and springs,i have to do it loads lolhope this helps
