Sarge-Devil 0
Hello again,I have ordered a Koni Sport kit..i had enough of my original shocks failing.Anyways...are they easy to fit yourself or is it a black art ?
purple highline monster 0
not so much difficult but you need the right tools, the rears are easy enough to do, idealy 2 person job though, bit fidly just using axle stands and trolley jack, the captive nut inside the rear beam that hold the bottom of the shock can be a pig too! a good soak in wd40 the day before your gonna do it is a tip! get new bottom nut and bolts too its safer and easier, another tip on the rears is once the coilovers on its hard to get the bolt in or out on the off side rear as it fouls the fuel tank!! so you need to locate the bolt early on in the job, as for the fronts i had a mate at the dealers do them! top nuts on struts are a killer without air tools and all the shite on the legs that needs transfering over is a pain, but it is do- able if you have the right tools? i changed all the nuts and bolts on my shock legs etc and the rubber top mounts aswell just to make it all neat and save doing any of it again too soon! dont forget you will need 4 wheel alignment and camber/toe reset as soon as its done to make it all worth while, then you will notice how bad your old suspension was and how well a mk3 vr6 handles!!! Sarge-Devil 0
Thanks for that info...i think i will ring around to find the costs of fitting.I don't have the tools, or the experience..but it was worth a try to find out.
Sarge-Devil 0
I've since found out Kwik fit, central tyre etc don't touch customers own parts...but i was quoted £130 for £cash by a garage.
Earwig 89
£130 sounds not to bad for fitting a full kit.Make sure it includes an all wheel alignment though. Only a few places used to do the 4 wheel one but is now becoming more comon as the kit falls in price :-)
purple highline monster 0
yeah £130 is about right labour for fitting, mine cost 380 and that was a mate!!!!
petervr6 0
you could do them you self in an hour or two if its a full kit if the spring already fitted to the shocks.
Sarge-Devil 0
I got the kit yesterday...and they were fitted today.I will take her down to Mitchelldeva tyres on Saturday to have 2 new tyres and the wheels alligned.I was impressed that the guy said that he could do it at sutch short notice..as other people were full untill the end of next week.I like the look of the drop..its quite a bit all round..oh and the shock kit was in pieces..ie the springs were loose and the shocks were in their own boxes as a kit in them selves....normally i would fit them myself, but it's hard for me too find time to do anything. Thanks for the advice guys...much appreciated.
