Spoke to Stealth at some length about this and they said if your car is an ODB2 then it will hardly make any difference to power except improve the drivability. However if you have an ODB1 (which is a Golf manufactured early 1995 or earlier) then it should add about 10-12bhp. Stealth add a unichip as mentioned above which allows for the standard ecu to be remapped ...also allows remaps in the future which is good. AMD also do a remap, which again involves a piggy back style chip being added to the ecu... similar to a uni-chip to allow the standard ecu to be remapped. Unfortunately only modern cars can be remapped without the need for souldering on chips etc to the ecu board. Amd quote a price of around Link to post Share on other sites

TVR6 0 Posted October 20, 2005 Report Share Posted October 20, 2005 Stealth were right. The ODB2 came with the later engine management and larger throttle body. AMD offer an enlarged throttle body for the ODB1 (not the ODB2) and this is recommended also. Be wary of AMD though, they quote a 10 - 15bhp increase for the ODB2 also, at least that's what they told me. Link to post Share on other sites
