jonnyedinburgh 0
I am looking to replace my leads soon, does anyone have a part number from VW for the red beru leads as VW aren't able to confirm the make/colour using their parts system!?Would a defective lead/leads be noticed quickly or do they develop problems slowly over time? I ask because I've noticed a few threads from peeps where their vr6 has bad idling/rough running and it has been solved by replacing leads/plugs. Did the rough running/idling problem happen suddenly or over a long period of time?cheers y'all.
Nerih 0
redberu are good, magnacore also good. can develop problems in the wet, or can fail quickly due to heat...
jonnyedinburgh 0
Sorry, I forgot to mention that when I contacted VW, they advised that they have no way of knowing whether or not the leads would be red or black, seems to contradict the apparent ease with which everyone else seems to have sourced their leads... anyone got any advice to ensure I get the red beru leads? Many thanks everyone....
jonnyedinburgh 0
Has anyone on here previously bought the RED beru HT leads from VW? Do you still have the receipt and part number/s as VW spare don't have a clue....... I've been told that VW don't even do red leads! A part number is essential if I'm to avoid getting fleeced! Thanks
mightyvr6 0
I'm not sure about the part no. but I know they cost about
jonnyedinburgh 0
Thanks.... I've checked with one of my local stealerships, 6 leads (don't know if they are the correct ones without part no's) cost approx
FishWick 21
I bought the red ones from VW earlier this year, the part numbers aren't really needed as they're very easy to find on their system. The price is just under
jonnyedinburgh 0
I don't know where VW stealership got their prices from, I'm wary at the moment as from what I can gather on this site, VW sell red & black leads. The problem is that the leads aren't a stock item, this means I have to pay up front, something I'm not willing to do unless I know for sure that I'm ordering the correct leads! My 2 local dealers don't seem to have sold many (if any) of the red leads, so they are unsure if I will end up with the red leads.... if anyone has a receipt from VW for red leads I'd appreciate if you could post the part no's.Thanks for your help everyone
badboyV6 4
honestly mate- at that price - dont bother- Magnecor leads will set you back a 100 quid- and they are a far superior product! Plus a 10 year warranty
jonnyedinburgh 0
Just checked out the Magnecor website.. gonna buy a set of 8 or 8.5mm leads tomorrow. Nice one!
badboyV6 4
no probs - good investment too fella :-) One point to make- you will need to slightly modify the lead guide rails to get the 8.5mm leads to fit- just nic one side of the tiny ridges which hold the lead in the guide.....
